Godot 4.2 just shipped and it's packed full of awesome new features. In this video we go hands on with some of the coolest new features in the Godot game engine. This includes improved 3D editor support, Blender hotkeys, vastly improved asset importing, especially GLTF2 and much more.

A tighter integration with Blender makes a lot of sense for Godot. Matching a few shortcuts may be a little thing. It does lower the bar to hop over from on to the other. It also signals that it's something that is thought about so users don't have to worry about running into unsurmountable problems.
Maybe Godot should have "Works great with", "We Recomend" or "Best used with" label for Blender?

Small correction, the integer scaling isn't to ensure you have square pixels, that's ensured by setting the aspect ratio correctly. Instead, it ensures that your 2D pixel art isn't scaled to 1.5 pixels causing it to lose the crisp pixel look.

You already had the tools to maintain aspect ratio in the past, this is entirely just to avoid artifacts while scaling pixel art.

The blender style hotkey integration alone is mind blowing. I really need to try Godot for a jam or two.

Quick aside: my SO got a new 3D printer, and printed a small cube to test the leveling. She looked at me funny when I said "Sacrificial cube!!"

I am seriously impressed with how far Godot's come just since 4.0 beta 1. The windfall of donations in the wake of Unity shooting themselves in the face has not been wasted. I cannot *wait* to see what this engine looks like going forward, and I never thought I'd say that :D

You skipped over the Linux part but it's a HUGE deal! We now have native exporting to things like the Raspberry Pi!

Now If only I could finish a game. I'm glad to see how far Godot has gotten because it's at a point where it's usable by enough people. The only thing holding it back are the lack of resources to help speed up development time for programmers, and assets to help artists and designers. On the bright side, this should change with time as more people use Godot.

Blender style keyboard shortcuts! That is the best thing I've heard! I haven't even watched the rest of the video! As soon as you said hitting G would put you in move mode, I was sold!

Gdextesion hot reloading is probably the biggest feature, so from now on you can use almost any programming language to develop in godot, which no other engine can do so seamlessly. It’s not just about unreal like C++, you can use Rust, Go or basically anything that has bindings to Godot c++ api.

There was a slot max => 18 bug that made sure that any game you exported would just crash on scene changes. This was a MAJOR bug that was there for 9+ months. This didn't allow for anyone to release a stable game for Godot with Godot 4.X. Glad they fixed that. Rather have critical bugs solved than new features

I know it might be so unintuitive for people who hadn't been using Blender, but the Blender style controls is gonna help me do things waaaay faster in Godot.

the gdextensions dynamic reloading is huge for me, makes the feature usable now. The restarting was a real chore.
