What Happens When You Try to Teach a Dog To Skateboard?

🛹 Skater tip: Make sure the trucks are tight so the skateboard is stable. Maybe loosen over time once they get the basic idea 💡

My puppy just hopped on the skate board and some how made it across the garage riding it

My Doberman can do this. Took a while. You can also attach a thin leash at the truck if the board to help control it and so it doesn't go flying.

Good stuff. I really like all the positive reinforcement at each incremental step closer to the actual "event" of riding a skateboard. I have a similar video coming out soon on how to give a bath, and we use the same logic. Incremental steps, rewards, fun, etc. In the end, the dog gets into the bathtub himself. It's so much fun to see their confidence build. Thanks for sharing this great video on using positive rewards, which just happens to be about skateboarding, but could be about anything.

Hi Zak, just a thought, but maybe do a mini-series of confidence building activities. I know one of my main goals is taking my fearful (and reactivate) rescue dog and helping him gain confidence with people, places, things, and sounds.
