I bought some new socks a couple weeks ago. Same socks I always get. I did laundry over the weekend and not thinking about it at the time, I washed some of my new socks with some of my older socks (still pretty new but not BRAND NEW) and then paired socks up when I was folding laundry and put it in my dresser. I didn’t consider at the time that I may have been pairing brand new socks with NOT brand new socks, and this morning I grabbed a pair and threw them on before leaving for work. Didn’t really realize until I was in the car but I had a brand new sock on one foot and not brand new sock on the other foot, and it was all I could focus on all day today. One foot feeling nice and snug in a soft new sock, and the other foot just being fucking jealous all day long, toes kinda cold in the morning, didn’t have that new sock feel that the other foot had. Now I’m home and about to go through all my socks and fix this so it never happens again.

thank you for covering this! betterhelp was the first therapy service i ever got many years ago and it was TERRIBLE.

the therapist i saw didn’t care about my life or potential mental illnesses whatsoever, she just keep reiterating strategies to think more positively, every single call. at first i thought that wasn’t that bad, but after seeing other therapists that actually helped me—i learned that the positive thinking strategies are a bullshit way to deal with severe mental health problems.

everything you said in the video also applied to me with my experience in betterhelp, such as the video chatting at home and other nitpicks—so thanks for spreading the word

Personally if i had the option i would have my therapist visit me at home, as its my safe space. But I also know its good for me touch grass and get out of my home, so in person therapy way better theb better hel

Very on point with getting professional help in person! Couldn’t agree more. I am no expert with mental health in any way, shape or form, but the right answer is clearly obvious on this one. Virtual therapy is not the way to go. If it works for you, good for you. However, it is not for everyone so to broadcast something that you know may not work for everyone just because you make bank off of it is complete and utter bs imo.

Glad this is going on, better help was so so so awful years ago with the scandal of unliscensed therapists etc. but it's crazy how everyone got away with it. Like they all act as if that never happened

Thank you for being blunt about this. People are not blunt enough and it’s so tiring to see so many creators capitalize on their viewers’ mental health, which is bad enough. But then also selling a scam. There is no way at this point they don’t know, they just don’t care. I stopped watching channels that promote it.

idk why but my brain kept filtering this as sweet baby inc instead when i saw it my recommended.

regardless, I do think having a therapist can legit help and do good. but exactly as you say. a big part is being in that new space. i also think (and not to discredit the people working there, idk them) but having a good professional therapist can make a giant difference. as does a bad one. and getting that through a medium like your phone cannot properly convey your issues and lead to improvement. or at least it would be like shooting yourself in the knee before trying to run a marathon. you don't wanna set yourself back with a bad medium through your mental health journey.

That would be good for people who don’t have therapy sessions around them, but otherwise.. a big no.
