Σύμφωνα με δημοσιεύματα σε ξένες ειδησεογραφικές ιστοσελίδες, Συριακά μέσα ενημέρωσης μεταδίδουν, ότι πριν από λίγη ώρα, Ισραηλινά μαχητικά αεροσκάφη επιτέθηκαν και χτύπησαν το αεροδρόμιο Shayrat, που βρίσκεται στη βορειοανατολική Συρία, με αποτέλεσμα να χάσουν την ζωή τους δύο στρατιώτες και να τραυματιστούν άλλοι τρεις, ενώ όσον αφορά τις καταστροφές που έχουν προκληθεί, δεν έχουν ακόμα αξιολογηθεί.
Αν και το Συριακό κρατικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων SANA, αναφέρει ότι ενεργοποιήθηκε η αεράμυνα της χώρας, και αρκετοί Ισραηλινοί πύραυλοι εξουδετερώθηκαν, παρόλα αυτά, η Ισραηλινή ειδησεογραφική ιστοσελίδα The Times of Israel, γράφει πως ήδη έχουν αναρτηθεί στα Social Media αρκετά βίντεο, που δείχνουν μια τεράστια μπάλα φωτιάς να υψώνεται στον ουρανό και να ακολουθούν και πολλές άλλες μεγάλες δευτερεύουσες εκρήξεις, που σημαίνει ότι ο στόχος τελικά χτυπήθηκε και μάλιστα με ιδιαίτερη σφοδρότητα.
Τέλος στα άρθρα επισημαίνεται ότι αυτή η επίθεση έγινε μόνο λίγες ημέρες, μετά τα αεροπορικά χτυπήματα σε κονβόι οχημάτων και σε εγκαταστάσεις φιλοιρανών.

Although the Syrian state news agency SANA reports that the country's air defenses were activated and several Israeli missiles were neutralized, nevertheless, the Israeli news website The Times of Israel, writes that several videos have already been posted on social media, showing a huge fireball rising into the sky and several other large secondary explosions follow, meaning that the target has finally been hit, and with particular ferocity.
Finally, the articles point out that this attack took place only a few days after the airstrikes on vehicle convoys and on friendly Iranian installations.
