Dr. Mary Stampone is an Associate Professor of Geography at the University of New Hampshire where she teaches undergraduate courses on weather, climate, and natural hazards. Her research focuses on monitoring and modeling variability and change regional-scale climate with an emphasis on hydroclimatic hazards including drought, flooding, and severe weather. Dr. Stampone also serves the State Climatologist for New Hampshire, providing citizens, educators, and government agencies with weather and climate information in support of environmental management and adaptation activities. She was a co-author of the “Northeast” chapter of the 2018 4th National Climate Assessment and lead author of the most recent state climate assessment for New Hampshire.

Matt Cahillane, MPH, Advisory Board, NH HWCA, introduced the speaker and moderated the Q&A session.

2022 was @1, 2C, but 2023 is so far (10 months or so) @1, 54C... We have high likelihood to end up over 1, 5C Paris limit this year. And next year is likely even worse. Also it is estimated that 15-17 years from now we end up over 2C limit (ie. Hansen and WMO). And those are without aerosol effects (adding 0, 6C by IPCC or 1, 35C by Hansen et al.).

Many scientists say that we go over 2C no matter what, but if we find that elusive magical cure we may still go below 2C.

Our governments are not going this path. Pledges (aka. NDC's) are failing at 85% rate and that means our governments are aiming for well over 3C warming.

Also noting that every 0, 1C temperature rise is roughly causing 100 million deaths. (Also known as 1 000 tons of carbon in the atmosphere kills a person.)

We are NOT FOLLOWING promised emission cuts. 85% failing. Most recent UN study says that we COULD reach 2% decrease in greenhouse gases by 2030, while we need 43% reduction...

This means we are not even near the needed emission reduction rates.

Even that 2% reduction rate is highly debated if it could even happen.

There are just too many fossil fuel emissaries among our politicians doing their dirty work. Next COP in Dubai that is oil producer and whole conference is bought by oil company CEO. And then next COP in Australia represented by world largest coal mine...

Noting that increases in the growing season are threatened by prolonged droughts, heavy rainfall and floods. Having a drought in the beginning of the season and ending the season with constant rains will lead much poorer crops than we had earlier. (Seeing that in my local area already.)

You can sey that one weather event is global warming related, when its chances to happen is over 100 000 years or so. Those events would not happen without global warming. And even more so, when similar event happens around the world at growing rate.

Every 1C warming draws 7% of the moisture to the air. So droughts are worsening. And at the same time clouds and the air has more moisture, so when it rains it pours due to climate warming.

Also our jet streams have gone wild bringing more extremes to areas where they would not be without current state of climate catastrophe.

Or having a bathtub temperatures in our oceans is not something that just happens without significant changes like global warming.

Likelihood of something happening has to be the first thing to say, not just saying "this can't be related to" ... When all directs to climate change, then we can say "this is likely boosted by global warming, but how much wdk at this moment..." We need more data and calculations that comes perhaps years after the actual event. But yet still climate change has its paws in ALL weather related issues.

if we have a goal of controlling the CO2, then what year in mankinds history should we shoot for ? 1980 ? 1995 ? how about 1912 ? What is the natural amount of CO2 that should exist ?

All you clueless SJW's you never talk about volcanoes and weather warfare .

Check the IPCC science reports (not the summary’s) they report no changes in droughts, floods, heatwaves, fires etc
Tony Hellers you tube channel provides historic details over the past 170 years indicating that what we are experiencing today is no different to what happened in the past.

When are you folks just going to come clean and finally admit this is all about ending capitalism? You understand that wealth protects us from natural disasters, right?
