Painting 34027 Taw Valley PURPLE on the Severn Valley Railway | The Queen's Platinum Jubilee prep

Since its announcement in January, the repaint of 34027 Taw Valley has been the talk of the whole world. Safe to say, it's made a huge splash and divided global opinions.

Being painted PURPLE as the official colour of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the loco will look AMAZING.

In this video, we head behind-the-scenes into the paint shop to get the first glimpse of the loco in purple and speak to people behind-the-scenes, including those working on the engine, to get their thoughts on the repaint.

The loco will first haul services during The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

I look forward to seeing video and photos of Taw Valley in purple. As nice as authenticity is, you get bored with seeing the same ol’ BR green and black liveries over and over, so some BR blue, pre-nationalization, and brand new liveries like this purple one are a very welcome sight, regardless of what others might say or think.

Seriously folks, it's only a temporary scheme. It's just to celebrate a one-off, once in a lifetime event. The Railway can paint it's locos in whatever way it wants. If it brings the public to the railway and increases revenue for the railway then it will be a good thing. Once the Platinum Jubilee is over, they will repaint the loco back to an authentic livery, it's not permanent. Yes it will look unusual but so what? If it raises public awareness and creates popularity for the railway then it's a win.

It’s unlikely to see a locomotive in a purple livery
It’s also unlikely to see a LMS black 5 to repainted to represent Henry the green engine along with a 10/10 accurate printed face like Peter Sam

I LOVE the purple chosen! I cannot wait to see this loco in person too! I dont understand why theres such protest over doing this as a temporary thing for a once in a lifetime event. It's new, different, exciting and you'll end up kicking yourself if you don't go see it and capture it.
I'll see if I can get a matching purple top to wear when I see her too! Two ladies in purple to match? hehe

This is a One off event that is gonna draw a lot of visitors to the Severn valley which is brilliant, we always want to get more people into the Severn valley and this definitely will get more people into the Severn Valley
