Purple Makeover for 34027 'Taw Valley' - Severn Valley Railway - 16/04/22

What has quickly become one of the hottest and most debated topics within railway preservation this year, Bulleid West Country 34027 'Taw Valley' is outshopped in a striking Purple livery, to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee year. The loco was put onto public display in her new livery for the first time over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, with the Bulleid awaiting re-naming as 'Elizabeth II'.

Meanwhile, final preparations were underway for the railway's upcoming Spring Steam Gala, featuring 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley'' and Urie S15 506. We also take a look at GBRf liveried 50049 'Defiance' and BR Class 17 Clayton D8568 running Easter services along the line, as well as a visit to The Engine Shed at Highley, with numerous locomotives on display.

Wow, I really, really like the purple livery on Taw Valley as the loco does look more beautiful than something that is familiar like BR green livery. Excellent video 👍

Unpopular but honest opinion; I think Taw Valley looks awful in purple. Not from an authenticity perspective, but just the general appearance of that thing, although I do respect the reason for the repaint. I honestly don't think the engine should be renamed though.

Credit where it's due, I like the shots of the Class 50, Class 08 towing the S15 and the Clayton hauling Mk1s.

Well, it was due for repaint anyway and will be in the autumn, so we'll just have to try to tolerate it until then.

Great video, I quite like the purple livery, even if it looks a bit off in certain lighting conditions. I saw 2999 at Kidder on Wednesday, has it made its way to Bridgnorth yet?

It looked good in Hogwarts maroon but is hideous in mauve. Love the tribute to HM but hate the colour so big dilemma.

It is only for one event and the paintwork job is excellent. Does she look a bit out of place? Yeah a little. But it's not terrible.

most of everyone in the comments are hypocritical. because they repainted locomotives, and some current owners repainted those to light blue or orange. after that, they get repainted back to their current livery.

I was going to make a joke about EMR getting a steam loco but that purple is far too bright for them. Looks good though
