I read that the Mongols (I could be wrong about it being the Mongols, I read it a long time ago) would cut strips of meat and place it under their saddle. The salt from the horse’s sweat and the friction caused by the horse’s movement would preserve the meat and they would have something to eat on their rides.

No disrespect to the narrator, but it’s very jarring and hard to take this for all it should be with someone narrating who doesn’t have proper diction and pronunciation.
