I know you didn’t want to get into details, but when talking about water, one thing that should be added is that it needs to be clean water. Knowing how to get water is counter productive if the source makes you sick.

I've followed you for awhile now and although I've seen you and other homesteading families deal with all of the things you listed, it's a bit overwhelming. I know there is truth to all of it but I think we can all acquire these skills as we go along. Great list and very realistic.

I don't need to know much about the first skill because I do not have farm animals and sure don't intend to get them; they are way too much work for me. The food that I get from plants requires the least amount of labor and gives me a more than adequate amount of food (I only eat whole plant foods). I do however feed a couple of feral cats and have developed the skill to give them food and water when they want it.
