It's feels like every day is moving farther away from the idea of a FREE AND OPEN SOURCE web. That's depressing, especially watching Mozilla make dumbfounding decisions that further diminish its market standing.

Basically, Chromium now is closer to Ungoogled Chromium and Firefox is closer to an imminent death.

It's hard to trust Google ever since they changed their motto away from "Don't Be Evil"

Mozilla: **makes yet another anti-user decision**

Me: **deadpan** "Oh, no. Who would have thunk it? Mozilla? No. I'm shock."

Mozilla is digging it's own grave, pretty sad to see

Chrome - good move, who need google stuff in chromium? Otherwise use Chrome.

Firefox - that’s baad :/

I don't get the outrage over Chromium. Google is just restricting a proprietary service to a proprietary browser. In a way, I actually encourage this because Chromium will be less Google then.

But I though people at Mozilla were progressive. Now I'm confused.

the fact we're talking about PWA being *removed* from firefox proves the guys point that keeping the unfinished code around sends the wrong signal. firefox has never landed PWA support, so they are *not removing* pwa they are *cleaning up unfinished code* to streamline developer time. there being no plan to support PWA doesn't mean firefox will never support PWA, it means they have no idea how to move forward on that front yet.

I’m fine with them removing the “SSB” feature, if they plan on building *actual* PWA support. I love Firefox, but its PWA support has been absolutely terrible for years. All of my PWAs are installed through Chromium based browsers, because they just work way better. I’m sad to see them losing this feature right when Linux phones really need good, solid PWA support to even dream of mass user adoption.

Google used to have a motto "Don't be evil". 13 characters.

They optimised it by saving the 3 characters: "n't"

I've been "disappointed" in FIrefox ever since they changed their plug-in architecture to become a Chrome Clone, and all the great extensions stopped working. Replacements have never come, and in many cases they are not possible anymore.

Lets just go back to Netscape and pine mail and be done with all of this.

Mozzila lost me when they support actions against free speach. Brave is now my new browser.

honestly I couldn't care less, I like to use websites on websites not in my desktop and to me there's actually no benefit from this standard

During the BLM riots, Firefox constantly put up articles demanding my attention and alliance with BLM. Go to hell, Mozilla. I then went to Brave. Thansks, Sandman.

Firefox is just ruining everything they had to show against it's competition...
Remember a few months ago when Firefox for Android removed Addon support and released an extremely buggy chrome clone that doesn't have downloads section in it's stable release without warning?
(I can't describe that chaotic emotional storm I had at 3AM after updating it... that's more painful then your crush being married to someone else)

so far i only ever installed one pwa on my mobile phone two months ago and this only because the developer saw fit to do pwa instead on an actual app with a more responsive interface. the site in question doesn't even fully contain all there is to access. several parts lead to dead links when you're offline. on my dektop pc i don't see the relevance because it literally is always connected. in summary my experience with PWA has been non existant to bad. i won't miss it.

ngl I've never felt the need to use a PWA.
