when companies go into politics, they tend to neglect their main goal and that what is happening to Mozilla instead of focusing developing the best browser possible they are now focused on politics.
i really hope that someone wakes up in there because Firefox has a lot of potential in the right hands

The Firefox guys really invested a huge effort to destroy their once shining browser.

The reason is lack of innovation.

The last 50 versions of Firefox didnt produce anything new whatsoever.

Except that now its so unstable that it crashes your windows.

I still use FF, can't stand Chromium based browsers and it's terrible that so much of the internet is controlled by Chromium/Google. Also find Chromium based browser far too restrictive

Great monologue Tom. This shows that Mozilla values their ideology more than they value their users.

I dropped Firefox for Edge and Brave when they stopped supporting freedom of speech

This actually reminds me of a (somewhat) recent study: When you show people facts which clearly goes against what they believe in, most people won't change their mind or will not be as sure about it anymore. Instead it will further cement the opinion of most people and make their believe stronger.

The writing was on the wall when they went after Brendan Eich. IIRC

I'm practicing using Brave. Kicking the Firefox habit is hard

Still using FF as my main browser with Brave and Vivaldi as alternates. Multi-Account Containers are invaluable and I still find FF to be a very competent browser but there are definitely reasons to be concerned about it's future.

100% agree with your assessment, Tom. The only other thing I would add is adding "features and changes" that nobody asked for nor wants.

Some people lean left, some people lean right, but most have no clue what either means. They’re just on the team that makes them feel good.

They took away the customization and decided they needed to get involved in politics.

I switched to librewolf just because of this. I don't want Mozilla as a company to die, but they do need a major wake up call

I've been using Firefox from the version 2 (or something like that), right after Netscape closed down. I'll be sad seeing it go. It's the only browser I can customize to my whims.

I might actually use Edge on Linux, just cause of how smooth it is.

Firefox 2.0 was awesome. It was still fairly simple, but incredibly extensible. My FF 2.0 in 2006 had plugins that did everything modern browsers have now, except for sync which is an anti feature anyways...
That they tried to sell Library as a new feature shows that they are currently incapable of maintaining Firefox.

@5:22 Nobody reasonable asked for a "ministry of truth" in an orwellian sense. They simply don't need to be told what to think and companies who support such a ministry or try to become one are frowned upon. :)

Mozilla should be focusing on more tech related stuff but I think most people care about their political view before downloading the browser....
An also NOT EVERYBODY IS AMERICAN. I would not switch my browser just because it said some US politics that I didn't understand...
You didn't mention the fact Edge, a browser increasing in popularity day by day, has come to linux. This is a much more possible reason why Firefox is dying coz Firefox has a good hold on linux as a default browser than windows but since Edge came many users are considering a switch....
Ik that I may have pissed some people off but you have to understand that the rest of the world don't care what side Mozilla is on in US.

Dropped Firefox after version 56 when they removed support for XUL user interface extensions.
Pale Moon has been my workhorse browser since that time and have been pretty happy with it.
Use Brave for what doesn't work in Pale Moon, and Chrome for what doesn't work in Brave.
Wish more websites would be W3C compliant and STOP using Chrome only features.
