I asked and you answered: what's Mozilla doing that's so wrong? I wasn't prepared for the results.

Being woke isn't about social causes. It's about a set of sacred ideas that cluster together. Parading as a social cause.

As far as brand recognition goes, my idea of Firefox is "oh is Firefox still a thing?" They really need to step up their marketing.

I primarily use Firefox because it is not google. Not because it is great.

I've always used Firefox exclusively on all platforms, but recently I did some browser benchmarks on my old notebook, and it turns out Chromium was faster than Firefox in all of them, while *also using less ram.*

This came to me as a surprise, and I hope Firefox eventually manages to regain their "lightness" advantage over Chrome.

How can Mozilla fight Google without that income? Yes, they should be much savvier at advertising, but honestly how much of their income comes from Google?
What are their options? Microsoft? Meta? Amazon?

He's right. Because thou art lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth... That's Mozilla right there

Firefox and (yeah, you read that right, Safari/GNOME Web) and their derivatives are the only options if you need to work with math formulas, as MathML is not supported on Chromium to this day, even if it has been an HTML5 and W3C standard for over 7 years.

Netscape, a CLOSE CODE PAID BROWSER, truly fought for open internet and not their profit..

Google is paying Mozilla to hamstring Firefox.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the projects they abandoned might have been Google not wanting competition in those areas.

I think there is a disconnect in ideology vs. reality. We see things with the perspective of open source enthusiasts and techies. There is what I would like to see happen, and then there is the reality of the business environment Mozilla finds itself in.

Fighting the big players requires a large war chest and funds. Mozilla barely has that now, and will certainly be ill equipped without Google's search agreement. To all extent and purpose, we are an enthusiast community. It is not good business to target enthusiasts over the general public.

My take: Mozilla should work to develop its value add services and challenge Google's monopolistic changes to web standards. They must become better communicators and learn to tell the story - regular folks need to know that Google is the reason that they cannot simply use the browser they want to visit one of their favorite websites. They broke the open web. It is easy for people to blame Firefox for not working. They do so because they don't understand the situation and they don't know who else to blame.

With regard to the "woke" claim, Mozilla was a meritocracy then they switched to promoting contributions based on political ideology even if the quality was less than optimal. I believe that this has been a contributing factor to their ongoing demise.

Get woke go broke isn't a 4chan meme, it was made by facebook boomers.

What I find disturbing is when Mozilla says it needs to "amplify factual voices over disinformation". I have yet to see any implementation of this and I don't know how they would, but the idea that Firefox wants to control what I see online is just about the textbook definition of propaganda. I really want to use Firefox and convince everyone I know to use it to fight the big tech monopolies just as Mozilla does, but when they do stuff like that they make it really hard.

Their manifesto is stupid, they make a browser. The manifesto should be about making it run faster, providing innovative features, and consuming less resources - that's it. They are bloated corporate busy bodies who have lost their way.

I have been using Firefox exclusively on my home PC, Work PC, and my mobile phone for 10 plus years. It's only recently that I have been starting to notice cracks and having to use chrome on a few websites because I cant login to site or functionality is missing. I am hoping it starts to get fixed as I truly prefer Firefox to the other options.

Mozilla is an open source nonprofit trying to act like a corporate, for-profit SaaS company.

Like the nerdy kid who tries to hang out with the cool kids for a few years, never really fits in, but keeps trying because they haven’t figured out that mainstream popularity is for the birds.

Well a small team like Vivaldi managed to make a great Browser which promotes user freedom.

Mozilla as a bigger team can't improve their browser. Librewolf team makes a better job tbh

Mozilla has a huge hand in developing the web and documentation for the web

As absolutely insufferable as woke companies are, Mozillas stance on freedom of speech was the real nail in the coffin.

It seems that Mozilla is pivoting efforts away from the Firefox software and more towards Mozilla as its own brand. Does Mozilla need Firefox to advocate for the web if they can only make lives better for the fraction of a percentage of people who use their browser and have to put up with it's weird quirks as compared to Chrome or Edge.
