“It means that you can see your own pay and you can see all of your coworkers' pay, by name, ” said Neitzel, who describes the U.S.' longstanding corporate practice of pay secrecy as part of our "patriarchal oppression."

Knowing your co workers salaries will help you know if you're getting the short end of the stick.

Good question: why isn't Vice pay transparent?

Schoohness

The only one who benefits from keeping salaries secretive is the company.

ya'll are missing the point. it doesn't matter what the damn job is or how hard it is, people deserve to be paid well if the company can afford it since they're the means of production. hiding people's pay from each other only gives power to the wealth class of america, and oppresses the working class.

In some countries, Norway for example, all tax returns are made public. It would definitely give a different perspective on money and earning potential

18/hr to scoop ice cream is actually a good gig

$75, 000/year, to scoop ice cream? Not bad.

We feel bad because our salary is the social status shape by society.

Making it public ensures equal pay for equal work.
There is a reason why big corporations don't do it.

I love that they banned tipping in favor of making wages more equitable.

In Norway, everybody's personal income is available to view on public record.

I dont understand why the interviewer is so bias of his view. I think he needs to open his mind and really think about the good sides of this.

If you work for a union EVRRYONE knows your salary.

Everyone comments about the woman that makes 75k. Stop it! They say she is a "Pastry chef".
She has a specialization, probably went to culinary school, and the ice cream companies probably employees five to six.
Specialization, supply, and demand equal higher wages.

Glassdoor says ice cream scoop person makes 12 dollars an hour.
