It is no secret that I don't like the Power Apps form control. It is grumpy, not very flexible, and sometimes does whatever it wants. 😟 In this short video I will show you my top 3 complaints.

Agree. Agree. Agree.

I have one more.

#4 Making mass edits to all the controls is not possible.

Agree and I've cried when it's reset its self, I'm actually using forms with collections for offline, was a pain and the form thinks it isn't connected but does work. The only benifit is the built in not saved event but that breaks as soon as you customise the form. Deffo more trouble than they are worth but always have a internal struggle in my head for using them.

I completely agree. I moved to use individual controls with a patch. Forms have caused me too many issues over the years to be worth it.

@shane I agree with you, but yes is possible to use form with collections.
1-create a collection equal your data table
2-create a form with your data
3-add all Collums that you what on form
4-chage your data to your collection in the form source.

But I agree, form is boring and hard to customize

I agree, however, I just had a client that had over 40+ fields and edit form was so quick. Creating a patch form for that many fields would of been very time consuming. Don’t hate on them too much 😂

What a great video Shane. Would be great to see a deep dive into the same title.

The main reason I use forms is when I'm using the people picker in a sharepoint data source. I find Patch is a bit painful to get working reliably with a people column.

Hi Shane, great clip as always! I am trying to persuade the guys I am making the app for to switch over to patch instead of forms. Can you do an elaborate session to explain how to do all the stuff you usually have forms for? How do I get .LastSubmit if I don't have a form? Where do I leave my Form.OnSuccess and Form.OnFailure code? How can I easily switch all those controls to Edit / View / Reset mode? My Form uses the Errorcollection to show which controls have an invalid value, how does that work with Patch and controls? Would be great if you could do one of your sessions explaing all this. Hope to hear from you soon, keep up the great work!

Another one for the list - data cards are annoying as heck!!

Please make the 90 second version with reading an existing list too!

Yep, have rebuilt my app with a custom 'patch' form. Infinitely better. Much easier to work with, and much better UI.
Also, use LookUp columns (or related tables depending on Datasource). Once again, a bit harder to master, but so, so much better to work with datasets that are interrelated.

I just built a powerapp using a form. I used the form and just had all the inputs patched on the "submit" button. Patches a collection and SQL table depending on if "edit mode" is enabled. Granted there's a lot of update context and variable true/false on select going on to make it work.

I only use it because it has on success property unlike patch function

So how do you create a form that scrolls relatively if you custome.make it

Hope with new UI update this year, they fix some of the things in forms :(

I assume there is a patch video to know how to use patch and so I never use forma again?

but with patch dont you lose the form control safety features like required fields etc
