For anyone wondering, Altra running shoes allow a wide toe box, and are zero drop shoes. Absolutely my favorite

Who the heck is even designing these abominations of shoes? Every few years more ridiculousness gets added to shoe designs.

Many of us have built up a lifetime of callus soles making it insensitive to the hard ground and pebbles.

I'm not saying he's wrong. Just adding more context.

I'm Kenyan by the way

I run /walk fast in a park area. Would not recommend to do it barefoot. Smashed glas, dog poop, little stones on the sandy ways, hard surface at the concrete pavement.
But in summertime a try to walk barefoot on the lawn or do yoga barefoot at least a bit.

In addition, this man is not running on asphalt in the video. The different grounds also have different input on the feet.

I’ll ask you this: who’s winning marathons and breaking records? Runners who use these specifically designed racing shoes or runners who are going barefoot or in minimalist shoes? It ain’t the second.

I ran five miles around the street of north london barefoot, once a week, as part of my training regime when a teenager. I was doing 120 miles a week at the time. Running barefoot was liberating but you run differently and definitely focus on the pavement. Better to do it on the beach or grassland.

I have these same issues also. Today many shoes are made up PVC specialy bottom, not rubber that was made back in days. This is because PVC will someday break so you have to buy new ones.

Then I found shoes that have a thin layer bottom, and wide tip of the shoe, so your feet can feel natural walking outside. I can highly recommend buying these types of shoes. They are best for your feet.

I'm a skater. I am most comfortable in vans. I don't know how healthy they are for your feet but the flatness of them paired with the pop-cush insole feels really good

I’ve been slowly transitioning to all barefoot-style shoes, and I think it’s helped me minimize foot problems. I started with dress shoes, then moved on to running shoes. Just ordered some TYR barefoot shoes for the gym. I have high arches but my barefoot shoes work great regardless.

I ran barefoot outdoors a lot as a kid, even on our gravel back alley.

Well, The purpose of shoes has always been to protect the foot, until "fashions" came along and strangled it with their "beauty"

If you're in India, looking for barefoot shoes. Zen Barefoot is making some really cool minimal shoes.

So much more nuance to shoe design and running mechanics. All the top runners wear modern super shoes and times are dropping. Theyre faster for a reason.

One way to help would be to switch into minimalist shoes at home so you’re not dying at work and pushing yourself too hard start small.

You twist your ankle easily if the shoe is not tight. Your feet lands, you push, next your feet slips inside the shoe and next you hear a huge crack.
I can jog (not run) barefoot on a beach though.

In the 1960 Olympics, Abebe Bikila purchased a new pair of running shoes. They fit poorly and gave him blisters, so he decided to run the marathon barefooted. The first of two in which he completed barefooted. Both marathons were on city streets. Bikila was 5'10" (177 cm) and weighed 132 lbs (126 lbs). My feet hurt just writing this post...
