fun fact the actress who plays the mother in this episode, actually has a son with this disease in real life and actually wanted to bring awareness for it. So the episode is actually based on the actress real life experience

I got this when I was 1-2. I'm a girl in the Us, and am not at all Japanese lol. It took 5 days of my mom going non stop to the doctor's to find out what was wrong with me. Every doctor told her it was just a cold, or flu. I had the fever, red skin, peeling skin, and red tongue. It wasn't until a student nurse saw me in the lobby of my clinic (my mom was barely bringing me for a new checkup) the student saw me and and immediately called my city's biggest hospital and told them what I had, and she told my mom that I needed to go to the hospital. My mom was of course worried, and wanted to call my dad. But the nurse stopped her in her tracks with 1 sentence, "She has no time, the Emergency staff is waiting for you."

That student saved my life, and I wish my parents could've gotten her name. I would love to thank her myself.

Kudos to Meredith for how she handled it. And love the fact that the mom here played a doctor on another medical show (Scrubs)

this was the most emotional episode for me because I had this at 6 months old and they could not figure out what was wrong with me and my mom kept bringing me back to the hospital and would not give up until they figured it out and they finally did ! it was the scariest time for my mother.

Kawasaki is something you hear about in med school over and over again. A kid with fever over 7 days and a rash and the mom has to come up with Kawasaki? Duh🙄 No need to be Dr. House to figure this one out

Why is nobody talking about that fact that she is Dr. Elliot Reid from Scrubs?

I had acute Kawasaki disease at 4 months old and ended up with aneurysms in my coronary artery. The reason I was saved is my pediatrician was still in contact with his roommate from college who became a cardiologist. Crazy to hear everyone else who had a scary experience with this disease as well.

Special thanks to this greys episode for sending me into a near fucking panic when my son was diagnosed with this on Monday, day 3 at the children's hospital right now. He was diagnosed on day 6

I love Sarah Chalke in this and scrubs even though the tones of the shows are totally different

My little sister had this actually when she was 5. The first doctor we took her to lied on his report saying that we said she was complains of a sore throat and it was scarlet fever. She never had a sore throat and so we took her to another doctor and that one looked it up and figured it out that is was Kawasaki Disease

My son had Kawasaki. Our story basically mirrors this. Same fight to get a doctor to believe me, same symptoms. It was so scary

Yea I had Kawasaki and the doctor actually diagnosed me with Lupus and I watched Scrubs and it is never Lupus.
Fortunately the next day my skin started peeling and that was a sign
