Snowboard toe turn: Using the hips #snowboarding

This clip happened during a messenger chat. I’m trying to lay out the difference between using and not using the hips in a toe turn.
Does this make sense?! Is it obvious enough?!
Let me know in the comments!!

My biggest and worst habit! Thanks Lars!- show us the heelside. Feeling that hip dip in on both toe and heel really increases the efficiency of the turn

Always right on . Perfect. Please never stop making content. We might not be all noisy and colourful like the freestyle crowd but there is a ( finally! So we get some attention from the gear producers) growing carving community that needs all the help to polish the technique. You are doing a great service. Hugs from the Italian Alps

Lars is built like a gazelle.
Great post on position and mechanics.

My exact problem. I think leaning on a table is a great way train my body to do that on the snow

Wow great video, it really highlights correct position

Yup, similar principle applies to mountain biking - bike/body separation

Last year I really started to realize how bad my toe actually was… exactly this problem… but old habits die hard. Always something to work on.

Thx Lars, looking forward to winter season! Could you please do some on heelside as well? I so struggle with heelside carving at times...

If you listen to ski instructors/gurus much you'll hear a lot about angulation. This is the snowboard version. One of the biggest obvious signifiers is if your shoulders are level with the snow or not

It's definitely beneficial, I can tell.

Nice one man! What do you say about heel edge position?

Will core excersise do fine for this position? Best regards

Nope. Always be in the "best" body alignment.
A mix of an athletic 'low ready stance' and strength. As if you were using weights for strength training at the gym. Absorbing shock with your body by arching a spine while twisted is a no-no

I really understand what you mean, but my goal is to be able to scratch the underside of my arms with the track when I carve!

But once again, I will probably prefer your approach which must cost less in winter coats!
