Snowboarding Tips - Improve Your Turns Using This ESSENTIAL TECHNIQUE

Показать описание
Improve your snowboarding turns and snowboarding technique by employing 'Torsional Twist' into your riding! In this video I teach you how to become a better snowboarder by using your knees and ankles properly. This important technique is often used by beginner snowboarders when they start learning, but then forgotten about as they progress. However it is very important when creating grippy short radius turns on your snowboard.

If you would like to have snowboard lessons with me here in Alpe d'Huez, France, then take a look at my website below to find out more:

If you're in the UK or Europe, I recommend this shop for buying snowboarding equipment, it costs you nothing but helps me out!

Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video!

Dear Malcolm: I had my AASI Level I exam yesterday when I used your lever analogy for my segment of teaching garland turns. I got an A for my lesson content! All the instructors loved this analogy and our examiner called it a rock star analogy! This analogy will spread among instructors like fire! Thank you so much! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

This is explained alot better than in most other beginner videos. You explain how to get the board on edge perfectly. Many videos say "use your shoulder" to initiate the turn which is bad, because later you want a complete seperation of upper and lower body. Turning with the "levers" (lower body) is an awesome explenation

as a beginner, not being able to turn from heel edge to toe edge smoothly was a big demotivator, and i wish i found out about this channel before i took lessons because this would've helped me so much

Great videos Malcolm, I’ve been snowboarding for over 20 years now myself but I’m not an instructor and I can’t explain properly how I do what I’m doing. I have just bought my 11 year old son his first board and teaching the very basics is easy enough but this lever analogy for torsional twist is genius Malcolm. I didn’t really know that that’s what I do when I turn! But now I can explain this better to my son. I’ve been watching a few more of your videos now and you explain everything clearly and well. Great job, and thanks.

Your instruction is AMAZING, Malcolm! This is a perfect example of using visual, auditory and kinesthetics for teaching. Your voice, your intonations, how you explain the biomechanics and even the music all worked extremely well to help me understand. You have a talent for teaching! You are an amazing instructor!

Hi Malcolm! I'm a beginning snowboarder and I've taken some lessons and watched lots of YouTube beginner snowboard videos. This is easily one of the most helpful. I've not seen turns explained like this before. I gave this a try today and the responsiveness from the board almost startled me the first time I tried it. Everyone says "get on your toes" or "get on your heels" and that *sorta* works but the technique in this video works on a whole higher level. I felt much more in control today after working the board this way. Thanks from a grateful newbie.

This is a superb explanation. I've been riding for 2 seasons, I catch up pretty fast when it comes to turning on steep terrain but most of the time i skid on my heel edge. And this torsional movement is all ive been looking for. Never knew what torsional is until i found this channel. Been watchin tons of snowboard bloggers/youtubers, but this is the only one that detailed everything. Thank you Malcolm
