To all the commenters saying that $1000 is not a budget PC, parts are getting more expensive and editing 4K video takes slightly more expensive parts. Get used to it. If you had the money to buy a 4K camera then you should have done the research(which is what this video is trying to give people) on what kind of PC you need to edit in that resolution. If you cant afford a PC like this then do more research into what you can get away with, with worse performance, for editing in 4K. This video is to show good performance without spending even more money. If they had left the RTX 2060 in the config it would have been even more. And yes $1000 is pretty low budget for 4K editing like some other(intelligent) commenters have pointed out.

How to take the "gaming" out of any PC.

Step 1. Remove the RGB lighting.

I was about to get a ryzen 9 5900x. But if ryzen 5 5600x can edit 4k, then I think ryzen 7 5800x is enough for my work.

YES! I've been waiting for this video for years. Thank you Linus. I built my first computer at age 16 using ltt and ncix videos as guides. Now, 6 years later, I'm working towards being a professional video editor. Thanks again, you changed my life!

I love how serious and knowledgeable is Denis in this video. Seems nobody apreciates it.

So apparently the gaming rig I built a few months back was actually a budget video editing rig.

Maybe I should start making videos...

You should do a 2019 version of the budget CAD workstation

I would love to see an up to date budget audio production build. I know there a lot of producers and engineers looking to be able to use as many plugins as their heart desires but then the cpu gets bogged down and have to start choosing to do something else or have to render audio a million times before getting to the final product. Which also makes edits a bit of a nightmare because if you decide you want to go back and change the settings on a plugin you've previously used you can't because you've already rendered the audio. This is not even thinking about if you want to change your midi sequence your starting from square one.

Even though it would cost a little bit more, I'd recommend going just a little more with 32GB of RAM, 16GB should be your absolute MINIMUM. Many programs, especially adobe, store all their cache on the RAM, and therefore it's a lot faster to playback videos with more RAM. The more space you have to store RAM playback the less time you have to worry about it rendering again.

I noticed you mentioned the rtx 2060. I have a computer with a gtx 1080 and found a way to cause my premiere pro cs5 software to recognize it for the mercury engine and the difference was astonishing. (I have an i7 6700k chip clocked at 4g) Just wonder if it can be made to recognize the rtx 2060 since both appear to be cuda. Just curious if you know since I am about to build a new computer using an i9 9900k and would like to use the 2060 if the same boost in performance could be recognized. Thanks for any help!

I'm glad you tested and focused on timeline scrubbing instead of render times! Good job guys this is a great editing machine you all need a raise lol.
