Good stuff. Very useful. However I think it's really difficult to definitively classify untrained or really raw male singers. I had to pass through a baritone/baritenor phase to really access my upper chest range.

Baritone voices may be able to do E2 just fine (maybe with some mild effort but not much) but it's not sung as if though it's in the middle of the baritone's range. The operatically useful range of a baritone is G2-G4.

I'm a mezzo with an extended upper range (E3 - A5 - G6)

What is the classification for someone with Bb1-B1-G5-A5? Mezzo-Bass?!?!

I saw one of your videos and was blown away. Your vocal exercises are unique and offer a different outcome. I digress. I believe I’m an alto. (Obviously, I need lessons of some kind and/or professional vocal training) several people have said my voice works the best with jazz. I did “Criminal” (Fiona Apple) and it wasn’t bad. If you wouldn’t mind suggesting other jazz songs, I’d greatly appreciate it. You go, girl!

Good to know I'm a soprano because I can hit E6 very well if not higher

Tenor…. As a woman is hard😔😊
Edit: So, somehow I’ve adapted into a mezzo-soprano with an extended range.

My range is like d3 (maybe a lil lower) to sometimes an f6 so I’m either blessed with all the singing types or a mezzo :3

Looking up ranges listed, they seem to vary a lot from different sources.

I feel like it’s irresponsible to share these kinds of things in this way with new singers.

So many untrained, undeveloped male singers for instance are not going to be able to naturally sing an F4 right out the gate.

Which then leads so many untrained singers to believing “oh, well I must be a low voice then.”

This kind of overly simplified information lacking in critical context creates so much vocal dysphoria for so many singers.

I am a Lyric Tenor who is working with a world class operatic voice instructor and it took me 13 years to embody my upper register beyond a G#4.

I was told for years that I was a baritone by several instructors and to just accept the limitations of my voice type.

I can now sing up to an E5 in full voice (non falsetto) and it doesn’t even feel like my ceiling.

This kind of information is fine when it’s conveyed in a sort of “HERE’S THE WESTERN OPERATIC VOCAL DESIGNATION OF TRAINED SINGERS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS TO SUPPORT A LASTING CAREER” sort of way.

Sure you can argue the whole there are certain common passagi within an anatomical framework that are shared by most singers that designate them as being a lyric singer of any given variety that likely have their registration events occurring at said given points but..

That shit takes time PARTICULARLY when the voice is still maturing and god forbid going through puberty.

I imagine you possibly touch on this in other content but I feel like it’s irresponsible to just post these kinds of clickbait reels that likely pull in so many young singers in wanting to uncover their “true voice type” without providing at least brief context on the dangers of misclassification or that a voice isn’t inherently defined by its range particularly when undeveloped and untrained.

Again, not trying to come at you personally and more so just feel frustrated by this variety of content in general.

My Vocal Range is G2-G5 (Can extend down to as low as E2, but can hit F2 comfortably depending. I can extend upward to A5 in head voice and my Whistles start at Bb5-C7).
I’ve always been told I’m either a Bass or Baritone, but have the range of a Tenor or potentially have the range of an Alto if I become trained, but I’m not sure currently. I’m practicing to become better and am thinking abt lessons and a coach.

I’d say my comfort zone is D#2-C4 im a young bass

I got like a C#2-G#4 in chest maybe a C2-A4 if it's a good day. so a low baritone.

I am conflicted. I can sing damn near bass notes, but can hit as high as a f#5 which that note was confirmed through voice pitch software that is connected through my computer. I verified it through isolating David Phelps and seeing if the software was correct in the notes he hits for O Holy Night, the final note is a c#5 and it was right on the money.

So, what do I do with this? call myself a Bari-tenor?

D3- E6, I can sing even higher but this is my range where I’m comfortable. What would I be, a mezzo?

I'm either an alto or a mezzo soprano, I can't tell but I think alto because I feel more comfortable singing lower songs??

I fall under the alto I guess. I sing comfortably from F3 to E4 and sometimes a F4 but with my head voice I hit A4
I always feel limited in my vocals and that I should sing higher...
