I'm a proud traditional artist
Ink on paper is just too special to let go

I think the best way is to sketch everything traditionally and then add effects, screentones and other digitally

Depends on how I'm feeling. I'm more used to Digital Inking, but there's something really satisfying about using real ink on real paper. I think it also depends on what I have with me at the time. One upside to digital is that you won't accidentally smudge your ink. One upside to traditional is that you can find new ways to use the same tool.

In short, I love them both!

Edit: I just tried something in Procreate: if you reduce the opacity of an inking tool, you can get a sort of "inkwash" effect.

Edit 2: Another upside to using digital inking is that you won't accidentally drop your maru pen on the floor, causing the nib to get bent out of shape.

I've used both
And tbh there isn't really much difference to both of them once you get good at it
The only diff is that digital is more convenient, like i can draw manga on my phone

I personally prefer both(I grew up with both digital and analog)

2:15 that list of tools make the heart race and the hands give the urge to hold them and star drawing

Always love a good art talk, I love both mediums. They both have their ups and downs so I use both, Traditional for the sketching (and maybe even some inking), scan it, then use digital to trace my line art, fix any proptional errors, then add colors. I stuggle with colors so digital allows me to experiement with tones, shadows, highlights and some effects. Both are good and have theyre place in the art world.

I’ve been watching your videos everyday and they help me feel better while I take breaks from drawing due to burnout x

As a krita user and a poor one, it saved me for literally 3 years and i evolved with it. So for anyone thinking that you need the best of the best to start digitally, just start with a simple one, then go for the bigger projects on the better programms <3

Either way, you'll spend money do really go with preferences

I love and respect both because they need skill and talent to create art by human hands 💪🏼

As much as I'd like to switch to digital or at least integrate digital into my methods, I feel like I don't do my best when I do digital art. My hand feels much more free on paper...
but the benefits of digital are appealing.

Kind of suprised iPad and Procreat were not mentioned. Its simply the most affordable and powerful digital illustration software on the market. It may not have all of the same bells and whistles as CSP.... but anyone who is starting up might find it to be a great way to get there. The brushes and features are amazing. It's the only software I use to draw these days and I hope to make a Manga with it in the future!

Thank you, this is really helpful, and I would love to see more videos about digital vs analog manga making in the future.

I’ve used both. Trad art for 10 years and Digital for 5+ years. In my unbias opinion traditional has much more variation in texture,
So if your going for a realistic style consider traditional or if you want to use digital then it’ll be harder unless you photobash.

I make all my pencils on papper then I use digital "inking" (so I can keep the sketchig stage :D )
