Infections are most common in less than 5 yr olds because that's how their immunity builds up and that's how they are , they are exposed to germs all the time. The 5 most common childhood infections in less than 5 yr olds is Common Cold which require simple anti histamines, Typhoid fever or enteric fever which can be well treated at home with simple medications, Hand Foot and Mouth Disease where there are rashes and blisters which is self limiting and can be treated at home, Acute Pharyngitis or inflammation of throat which can be viral and bacterial and when bacterial it can be managed very well and Gastroenteritis which is inflammation of stomach and intestines which can be managed very well at home as well.
