6:19 for some reason this brought to mind superboy….

The adventures of teenage Beowulf and his super-dog Beowoof! Sadly lost in time…

I see what you're doing near the end, laying groundwork for a forthcoming translation...

The history of the poem itself is, indeed, a very fascinating story. Far moreso than the tale of just how those orc heads arrived at High Cottage...

Nice seeing you back to your normal self.. 😊
I'm about to start Tolkien's adaptation of Beowulf as well as (hopefully!) reading other adaptations.
Having dropped one of my kindles from a not so great height which cost me a replacement, & also having pages or the whole binding of a book give out on me..
I think the cost of a new kindle or double sided tape would be a discussion for my wallet 😢

I have a prose translation of Beowulf published by Penguin. The translator is David Wright and was first published in 1957. Do you think it's a good translation?

Great discussion, Steve. Can you share your opinion on the Donaldson prose translation that Norton Critical uses?
