Nice video. I’ve had my tank set up for a few years cycled it without fish so have never had an issue.. until I moved house last week and it’s all to put it bluntly, gone to shit. I’m glad you just said water changes though I’ve found throughout my time keeping fish that these solutions you buy from the pet shop as a quick fix usually do more harm than good. Going to stick to daily water changes!

Good tips. Everyone runs into issues, it's all about how you deal with it. Love the shirt!

You caught it quickly so I think the fish will be ok.. I guess The best thing to do would have been to leave the other wood in a couple weeks until the new wood had some bacteria grow on it. Thanks for this. A lesson for us all.

I see you with dem plants 👀 hey man, where'd you get that giant size sponge cover for the intake? I need one that size. And Anubias Barteri is the bomb, literally uploading a video of a huge one I have in my 55 gallon as we speak....

Hey Steve. It’s my first time leaving a comment on your channel. It’s funny that we are experiencing the same problem. How is it going now with the ammonia spike? I got 0.5ppm reading in my water everyday but my PH is super low at 6.4 out of tap. I’ve added an entire bottle of Tetra Safestart but it didn’t make too much difference. I guess it was because of the low PH.

Every time I clean my tank and do water changes my fish seem to either get really stressed out or ammonia spikes and causes death in the tank. My tank is 60L and I treat it with prime and stability. Filter sponge will be washed with tank water and I use ammonia remover filter media. I change Half of the media in in the filter every 4 weeks. I feed my fish every other day. Can you suggest anything for me?

I have a 10 gallon tank, I added 2 snails with my betta. I am now having issues with some ammonia. Is my tank over stocked from the 2 snails? The tank is about a year old. And is fully cycled. I’ve been doing 10% water changes every 3 days to keep it low. Help!?

Rn my betta is motionless I just found out today. Waking up i discovered he had one side of his eyes popped out assuming it’s Popeye but it’s only one side so I’m guess he hurt himself swimming last night. I took out a plant that seemed to sharp that had sharp edges so I guess that’s what caused the injury. Before the morning my wife over feed him the night before and he woke up with swim bladder as well on top of the an ammonia spike.😭. I do have 2 mystery snails and one Cory doing completely fine. While the betta is suffering I put him In a epsom salt bath twice today and as well as did a 50% water change 2 times as well today. At this point I’m worried and only time will tell.
And rn he’s been resting on some floating plants in the tank at the top.

It bugs me that when I do the (API) ammonia test I usually get a light greenish tint but I don't know if it means the 'a' or 'um'. Steve have you ever tried the round wheel that is suppose to tell you if it is the bad ammonia?

New fish hobbyist... I need advice. I'm doing a fishless cycling and I added the live bacteria (dr tim one and only) and ammonia. I accidentally got the ammonia up to 8 ppm. Since I dont have fish in there will my tank be fine or do I need to bring ammonia down? And
