glad I found this video again. Decided to do my first group ride in April. Last year's event was 1, 000 bikes over 50miles. Need to learn all I can and practice as much as possible.

Everyone's commenting that he wasn't staggered and yet he actually directly addressed what was going on with the rider behind him to his right. Come on guys.

Love your tips. I am now in a Club and I love it because it's older riders and they respect the road when riding. I've ridden in a group once, but as a passager just to see how it was and boy was it imitating as well as cool to watch. Of course, I plan to ride my own within the group but want to get the kinks out, still a little nervous though a group captain will be by my side since I'm new to it.

The dude on the right of you is pissing me off. He should have taken a course in knowing how to ride in a group prior to going on this ride.

I've done formation club rides and it's an experience to remember and none club group rides the only time I've been nervous is leading but I do perfer to ride staggered

Here's a great group riding tip. If you're following a bike, don't take your left hand off the handlebars and rest it on the tank....makes it kinda hard to emergency brake.

MSF recommends that you change lane positions versus pass someone to correct for someone leaving the formation. In other words, you should have moved to the outside lane and everyone behind you should have also switched. I'm not sure I agree with that, but the theory is that it's more dangerous to be side by side, even for a couple seconds.

It's that time of year. DGR is almost here! I missed it last year. I had just bought my bike a few weeks before it happened. I didn't know about it.

Sorry about being late to the comments. Just started watching Dan's channel. Good work you're doing here, btw.

I noticed a few comments about his position within the group and wanted to toss in my two cents on the matter. I'm 99% sure Dan's position is correct in the formation. Dude in the brown sports coat that keeps popping in and out of frame should have been doing a better job of staying on the right side of the lane in the gap between Dan and the rider in front of him. Basically, Dan would have needed to sideswipe brown sports coat out of the way if he wanted to get into the right side of the lane and change up the rest of the formation (you can see in the rear-facing camera images that everyone behind him is staggered as if Dan is in the correct position as well).

Anyhow, keep up the good work, sir. I'm moving on to the next video. :-)

Your telling everyone to ride staggered but your riding the ass of the bike right in front of you . LOL.

I am leading a group for the first time Saturday, a Blessing of the Bikes and Riders, l'm nervous! I don't like riding in groups, maybe being in front will be better if I can hold my speed down!
