I’ve found that if I’m going no faster than the speed limit,
I can pretty much
escape 99% of most situations just fine.

I wonder when folks are gonna realize that speed isnt the only way to enjoy the ride.

I've been riding for the better part of about five years now. I've never had any crashes but I like to come back to you every so often just as a reality check so that I don't get too comfortable on a bike and remind myself to always be safe.

These videos are super important for people like me looking into getting a bike. The importance of full gear is always at play and you can never be too careful. Can’t wait to start riding soon!

It’s amazing how many of the incidents on your channel could be avoided by proper dominant lane positioning. After taking the beginner riding course you learn these things and they stick with you for life

6:25 I doubt he was fighting for the lane, but rather fighting to slow down as much as possible in case of eventual impact. Look how his speed dropped in 1 second. You can't properly brake hard and steer at the same time. He did well

Just having these visuals in the back of your mind is like practicing so your brain can interpret what’s coming at you while riding. Thank you!

A lot of these issues have to do with the rider riding too fast. Motorcycles are narrower than cars, of course, so their perspective doesn't change to the driver waiting to pull out like a car does (meaning, they don't appear to grow larger as they approach as much as a car does ). So a car driver can't gauge how fast a motorcycle is coming. So truck/car drivers assume you're going the speed limit. When you're going faster than the speed limit, they don't realize it and pull out in front of you. (See FortNine's video about pigeons).

The issue with the U-turn at 11:18 was actually not the U-turn, it was the rider which was on the wrong side of the lane.

I get significant enjoyment riding at the speed limit and at the caution warning speed posted at turns.

Thank you Dan, glad that I watched your videos and other motovloggers for safety tips & tricks before starting to ride. As soon as I started riding I practiced emergency stops, progressive braking, slowing down in corner. And for sure that saved me today, a lady on a scooter from opposite lane tried to make a turn to my lane, I spotted her, roll off the throttle, begin braking slowly and downshift. Stopped just 3 feet away before crashing. The braking was soo smooth my weight just gradually shifted with no sudden change in mommentum, everything feels firm and confident even in a harzard situation.

I got my license last year after taking a safety course, and rented a nice n easy Royal enfield on a trip to Spain in December. Had the time of my life. Dan, I’ve been watching your videos for a couple years now and have engrained these safety tips you discuss. They’ve made me a much more aware and safe rider. Thank you.

The Africa Twin problem is tire related. My AT did the same thing. Tire was balanced perfectly, rim was true, and the axle was properly aligned with the fork tubes. I couldnt figure it out. After i removed the Shinko 705 front and replaced with a Dunlop Mission, no more wobble. Shinko refunded my money and said it was "out of round". Nice QC Shinko.
Lesson learned...dont buy Shinko tires

Great video, Dan. Thanks for keeping us all aware of our stupid decisions. You’ve made a lot of bad riders less bad.

06:15 I love how as he's watching the clip of the guy, DanDan literally shifts his body to the right as if he was in the scenario LOL Awesome content, new rider on a CBR500R. Please keep these coming so I can continue to SEE and practice getting emotionally prepared

The thing about pushing your comfort level by going fast/er is to ensure no oncoming traffic = race track.
Strangely, track days also teaches breaking and cornering = value for money

All these riders are riding way way too fast. The faster you go, the faster your reactions need to be. Slow it down and you will have time to manoeuvre your way out of difficult situations.

6:38 he wasnt fighting for the lane. watch the spedo. He was braking hard, hoping the car would do the same or at least buy some time and slow down so he could swerve out of the way and back to his lane. Without that braking he would just leve the road to the right and hit the banking.

Good tip would be to DO YOUR MAINTENANCE. Everyone want to ride fast but nobody want to spend the money to make sure their bike is roadworthy.

Brakes, tires, chain/sprocket, center bearing for the triple tree, fork seals & shocks.. Speed wobble most of the time can be to blame from bad forks, that little bearing in the center, or a worn out damper.

How many people out here actually practicing high speed and low speed swerving? or emergency braking?
