Some good tips. But in NJ, don't assume that you're invisible to other cars. Instead, assume that they're going to kill you. Especially during rush hour lmao.

Hey Dan, I got my first bike in 1965 and I still get something from watching video's for "beginners". I'm 75 now and still riding and this stuff serves as a good reminder - especially in the off season up here in the "Great White North". It is the 3rd of Nov and we had some light snow today; so now I start my off season training. In the spring I will attend an "Advanced Technical Riders" refresher course to get the season started the right way! I have had only one bike accident in all my years - a bike fell on my ankle in a parking lot and broke it - go figure! :-) Keep up the good work, you really make a difference! Bogie

Don't be overly aggresive when riding
Be very defensive and think everyone will try to kill you
Be one with the bike, don't separate yourself from the bike
Always look for an exit strategy
Stop the damn wheelies in the middle of the roads, there is a place for that, middle of traffic is not for that
DO NOT BRAKE IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN You will fall
The bike will balance try to force it to balance
Practice riding in controlled areas

I’m about to get my riding license and I’ve been watching a lot of videos about tips for beginners, and your channel has great lessons for us! Thanks a lot!

Like how your shield reflects the sky. Pleasing to the eye.

I've been riding since I was a kid. I'm now 50. One thing I was taught to do, and still do, is use my rear brake (not fully, just enough to brake some) in a sharp turn while also twisting the throttle (accelerating). This causes a gyroscopic effect and helps with the turn. You can also use this method to see exactly how slow you can go without having to put your feet down. I've even seen "how slow can you go" contests at bike rallies using this method.

Never ride just in the middle. You will notice an oil/grease line from cars. Adjust your lane position based on where and how many cars are around you. Don't just linger next to a car.

I love watching these. I just bought a Honda cbr 300 for my first bike. I’ve been practicing and I think I’ve been doing pretty good. Now I just need a license 😂

Your videos made me want to buy a motorcycle. I took the course which last more than a month and a half in Canada, and last week I bought my first bike, an Iron 883. I always watch your videos about safety. Keep up the good work

Dan, the man!! Soooo glad to find your channel. BEGINNER rider, completed TN MC Training just a few weeks ago, my birthday actually. Haven't bought a bike yet, wanna get the right one for me. I'm watching tons of YouTube to continue to learn, but yours are by far the absolute best so keep it going. I'm going to watch every one you've posted. Will look through to see if you address counter steering. I think I understand that and did fine in the class, but just confused by the term, i.e. Counter, don't you push left-go left, push right-go right? Anyway, sorry so long winded here, just looking forward to watching more!! Thanks again👍🏻🏍

I’m nervous picking up my bike in a couple weeks from the dealer, this video was helpful to me to remember the details I learned at the driving course a year ago.

The placement of your left rearview mirror is creative, down instead of up. In this way you can really see better than the upward position. Besides the tips, this rearview mirror placement is another take home point! Very helpful video - big thanks!

Around the turns especially the blind spots assume there’s a stalled car in the middle of the road or backed up traffic-keep your speed down

Hey Dan thanks for the great beginner videos! I just did a 6 day motorcycle course and now learning on my own but it is so helpful to watch the maneuvers as you explain them! Your videos have been the most informative to me. Bonus because you also seem like such a down to earth person who cares about safe riding! Cheers!
