It was such an odd decision by the show to make the Thenns savage cannibals while in the books they are actually more civilized/advanced than other wildings.

If I remember correctly, in the show they made the thens cannibals and more savages than the average wildling. I don't know why they decided to portray them like that, I think having some wildlings be more advanced was more interesting

I heard the Thenn lands was rich in copper and tin deposits, which allowed the Thenns to make bronze weapons and armor. This gave them a military edge over other Wildling tribes.

Just another example of the show taking something interesting and complex and turning it into a hollow bastardised version of the book version… pun intended.

D&D were literally incompetent when it came down to Depth, Story, Characters, and Houses. They had the chance to do House Thenn right by making Sigorn the Thenn that helps Jon at Hardholm but instead of dying he would live. With Sigorn and Tormund staying loyal to Jon after being killed by the Nights Watch then brought back to life, Jon would setup Sigorn with House Karstark to solidify a New Northern House Thenn and getting the Karstarks to back Jon against Ramsey and the Boltons. Would’ve made more sense and more depth and story for the recruiting scenes when Jon goes around the North to back his play as King of the North against Ramsey.

The last panels are somehow cute. I hope Alys' husband treats her well. She's been through a lot already.

They are pretty much a relic from the time of the arrival of the bronze age first men by the arm of Dorne that wasn't broken, when cotf and giants ruled Westeros

them being cannibals was a Red flag for the things DND did later to the show

Hadnt noticed you still hadnt talked about the thenns, which is strange cuz they are very present and important in thr books.
This goes to show that the WOIAF is full of neverending cool things to talk about

The third picture does not depict a thenn, but the archetypical goliath from Dungeons and Dragons 😂

I just spent 20 minutes looking up stuff on the book version of the thenns, and it just shows how brain dead the show was

Every Thenn is a better character than Roose Bolton

That Goliath Barbarian pick from DnD kinda fits right in
