Nine noble families wage war against each other in order to gain control over the mythical land of Westeros. Meanwhile, a force is rising after millenniums and threatens the existence of living men.

Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show was shot in the United Kingdom, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, and Spain. It premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons.

Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has a large ensemble cast and follows several story arcs throughout the course of the show. The first major arc concerns the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros through a web of political conflicts among the noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from whoever sits on it. A second focuses on the last descendant of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty, who has been exiled to Essos and is plotting to return and reclaim the throne. The third follows the Night's Watch, a military order defending the realm against threats from beyond Westeros's northern border.

Game of Thrones attracted a record viewership on HBO and has a broad, active, and international fan base. Critics have praised the series for its acting, complex characters, story, scope, and production values, although its frequent use of nudity and violence (including sexual violence) has been subject to criticism. The final season received significant critical backlash for its reduced length and creative decisions, with many considering it a disappointing conclusion. The series received 59 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most by a drama series, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Its other awards and nominations include three Hugo Awards for Best Dramatic Presentation, a Peabody Award, and five nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama. Many critics and publications have named the show as one of the best television series of all time.

A prequel series, House of the Dragon, premiered on HBO in 2022.

I like how Jorah in the show is this very handsome, attractive older man meanwhile Jorah in the books looks like a divorced dad who works at the local gas station.

Jorah, Brienne and Tyrion ..3 characters in books described as totally ugly ...turned out to be played by 3 really good looking people 😄.

Couple things:
1. Ygritte is supposed to be 19 in the book but in the art she looks 13.
2. Joffrey is supposed to have long flowing curls, both the show and the AI have him with very short hair.

Y’all did not just use a mugshot for Jorah💀

This version of the Imp is very accurate. They even put in the mix of blond, white and black strands in his hair and beard. This is a version of Tyrion that makes me think "Oh, I see why they call him the Imp". Just imagine that face with his nose gone, that would be a terrifying sight.

The Tywin one looks pretty much on par with lots of depictions of him. That’s neat

The fact that the actor for Jaime Lannister is better looking than his AI mock-up is hilariously on brand.

The castings of Varys, Baelish and Benjen are perfect. And thank god they casted Kit Harington as Jon Snow. He looks much more unique and recognizable in GoT than in ASOIAF. Also, Sophie Turner is pretty, and she did a great job as Sansa, maybe even a perfect job, but book Sansa looks so incredibly beautiful, as well as Lyanna Stark

Crazy how we forget that most of the main characters are actually kids in the books.

Never read the books. These are fascinating. I knew that all the kids in the books are a lot younger but it never occurred to me that almost all the adult characters would be too. Ned and Cat look to be in thier mid to late 20s.

Melisandre's hair looked like burnished copper, much redder than the art shown here.

So according to ASOIAF…

•Tyrion’s supposed to look like a dwarven Elden Henson

•Arya’s supposed to look like Jonathan Taylor Thomas in his heyday

•Melisandre’s supposed to look like a scorchingly sexy fusion of Rachel McAdams and Kristen Stewart

•Lysa Arryn’s supposed to look like trailer trash from the whiter parts of Illinois who survives off SSI checks and has been divorced three times by dudes with Trans-Am Firebirds and mullets

Is it a show of the actors skills how Show Tywin, Lysa, Tyrion and Brienne are noticeably different physically speaking but the actors still achieve to perfectly convey the feelings and auras of their book counterparts.

I was about to say how they nailed Varys and Little finger. But then I kept watching and they really nailed a lot of the characters.
