The opening stages of the war were all of Tywin’s plans going to shit.

He wanted to capture Ned to try and trade him for Tyrion but that plan got ruined by Jaime.

He wanted to encircle and trap the Northerners at the Battle of the Green Fork because he expected an impetuous commander like Robb or the Greatjon to be in command but instead it was a cautious Rose Bolton who pulled his forces back.

He wanted to try trading Ned to broker a peace with the North and maybe even the Riverlands but then Ned was executed. Barristan Selmy was dismissed. Harrenhal (a valuable castle to offer as a reward) was granted to a lowborn son of a butcher (that was more just him getting annoyed as opposed to a plan being ruined tho). That is why he sent Tyrion to Kings Landing. He needed someone to put a semblance of order in the capitol while he managed the war effort.

I think it's weird how he asked, in the show, why eddard is still alive to Jaime, and Jaime says it wouldn't have been cleaned... While the obvious answer and why Tywin shouldn't have even asked is "if i killed him they would have killed tyrion"

Rob Stark was (if not by Edmure) able to set up a plan to trap ser Gregor's troops and capture him.
Ned forces would no doubt serve him justice

Ned would have never gone to take Gregor on himself, even without his broken leg, cause he knew it was only a matter of time before Cercei attempted to kill Robert. Tywin couldn’t know this, so he probably thinks that Jaime ruined his plan, but is is just his wrong prospective

I doubt the accuracy of this plotline, if Tywin planned to have Eddard either killed or kidnapped by Gregor he would have instantly started a war with House Stark as well as the clown since Robert would have directly come after him.

If only Ned would have chosen Loras to lead or colead the mission to bring in the mountain. If Tywin would have ordered the attack he would have angered House Tyrell screwing his chances to win them over afterwards

yah right!! ned wouldn't have been such an easy target for Tywin to capture like that. he is under estimating ned like he did rob stark. ned would have folks from gray water watch, Reids, riverlands with some intricate plot. Tywin is nuts to think that would work. they won't ride for a minor lord like beric but for ned stark and he is the hand of the king all hell would break loose in the river lands. even the gray joys would help out cause they know ned dont bluff. he dont come then an army on his door step to pull down the rest of his castle like ned and Robert did years ago.
