I think it is MUCH more complicated than "Emily is a scientologist, we need to boycott". It appears like she was born into scientology, which is extremely difficult and dangerous to leave, and she would be basically guaranteed to lose connection with her family. If she says shes part of it, people hate her. If she says shes against it but stuck, then she loses her family. If she says she was in it, but left and doesn't believe in it, then she still loses her family. She can't address it at all. However, it can be IMPLIED that she doesn't side with it due to the fact that she is queer. Scientology is HEAVILY against LGBT, so she clearly doesn't agree with at least that part. We can't just oversimplify it, we need to see more.

So we went from a relatable, damaged, wholesome and caring lead singer to a spoiled brat who's been in LA her whole life and was rich enough to drop out of high school because her parents knew that LA nepotism would work out. Pretty sad and just shows how bad our society has drifted from appreciating people with pain, and instead lifting up those who most certainly don't deserve it. GG

I think most people would be pretty shocked at how prevalent scientology is in Hollywood / LA as a whole. They've got a headquarters church that is literally bigger than the hospital it's next to, they've got over a dozen very large buildings for productions and recruitment, they have entire apartment complexes dedicated to their members, it's a monolith in that city and so. many. people. are part of it that you'd never expect. It is fucked up and gross and sad and they prey on people but like... I dunno man. That part of the Emily thing feels like a nonissue to me. A lot of very similar horrific and fucked up shit happens in the catholic and christian church too but we don't equate and pressure every one of its members like this.

I think that Linkin Park shouldn't even make a reactivation, they went down as absolute legends in rock and metal community, one of my favorite bands ever, I had huge respect to them but now? random ass scientologist, Brad saying he won't play shows because he no wanna 🥺 and Rob being completely isolated from the band, this is not linkin park, this literally a cash grab on peoples nostalgia, a failed one too cause it just made people angry

Here's my take on this:
- She has explained regretting supporting a bad person. Everyone makes mistakes, it's easy to misjudge people. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt and forgive her for now.
- She is part of Scientology. Is she a victim of the sect or is she part of the people making money? If she's a victim, people should help her. If not then yes, this is a very bad problem, but I don't think that's the case.
