Nice and kind ARE the same. If someone is doing something for validation or to get something back then they arent being Nice. By definition a nice person is someone who is pleasant in manner; good-natured; and kind. If there intentions arent kind then they arent nice.

I feel like I just do stuff because it needs to be done. A sense of duty I guess, people say thank you and show appreciation and I accept it, and also do the same back when opportunities arise. I suppose it’s my way of practicing detachment because it’s not for anything or anyone, just so it’s a completed thing. Same goes for saying an encouraging thing, it’s what needs to be done when someone is expressing distress or insecurity. Take something true about the person and apply it to what seems currently relevant. Example: workplace chat: “hey girl, you have really knocked it out of the park these last two weeks. You were booked solid and handled your new clientele load so well! How are you feeling about this new position?”
