I had an M1 Macbook Air and loved the speed and battery life, but ended up trading it in for a Macbook Pro 16" since I'm a computer engineering/cybersecurity student and most of the malware samples or work that I do requires x86. A real bummer.

Bro, the emulator problem is solved in the android studio artic fox version. they have now arm-based emulators available when you create a new avd device. HOPE IT HELPS android dev to make decision :-)

macbook air m1 is my first mac ever, coming from i5 window laptop in similar weight category which used to heat up every now and then along with huge fan noise and just 4-5 hrs max battery backup, i am amazingly impressed by this machine, zero noise, zero heating even with slightly heavy apps, INSANE BATTERY and the similar price point makes this undisputed champion in the price range..., fan from India.., great video

Once use your macbook m1 in a absolute dark environment, and look at the bezel near rubber gasket, you might find some light leakage around the bezels. That’s a common issue in m1’s macbook.

I have been using an M1 base model (8gb/256gb) as a Computer Science student and also while undertaking the Full Stack Engineer course over at Codecademy and I have faced zero issues. My take on whether someone should buy the basic model or not is this: If you are not doing video editing and you are on a budget, get the base model. What you are actually missing on vs the Pro model is connectivity (ports), which is fixed by buying a docking station (for those that want to connect it to an external monitor via HDMI). The fan of the pro does not matter.

TLDR: If you DO have the money, get the Pro. If you don't, get the M1 base model and you won't be missing out on anything if you are not doing video editing.

Its almost 3 months and my macbook is on 97% health and battery drain really fast and gets heatup a lot and all this is happening after an update. By the way love singh bro

I currently have a MacBook Pro mid 2012, so it has about 9 years, and I just bought an Air M1. I got the 512 GB drive but 8GB of ram. I do think the 8 GB on this mac will be good enough for quite some time for me. I edited videos in my old one and I'm a designer so if I could do that in my 9 year old Mac I'm assuming I can do even more on this new one.
