I'M THE CHALK ARTIST I've been harassed by the police over a dozen times since receiving my settlement. Had one officer jump out of his cruiser cursing me, one that unlawfully cuffed me before giving me a Criminal Mischief ticket, and then a Criminal Trespassing where I got locked up 20 hours and the arresting officer lost my wallet, oh, and just recently got a new citation for "Possession of a graffiti implement"

I most commonly post on instagram since I struggle to get traction on most of the other platforms.

Thanks for covering my story and being sure to provide people with the information to see more!

That officer was so convinced that he was right that he wouldn't even listen to his supervisor when he told him that drawing with chalk wasn't an arrestable offence.

Imagine being an adult male, arresting another adult male over sidewalk chalk...

I bet that cop felt really cool and proud of himself loading that crayola chalk into the back of his car.

The fact that a cop HANDCUFFED a man, DROVE him to police station, THEN said, "I am going to check the law right now to see if it applies..." is DISGRACEFUL...

dude just expressed a distrust in his local police, and then they follow him and arrest him for a dumb reason. way to prove him right.

How petty can this cop be? They fallow him to see if he commits a misdemeanor, then detains him for just-walking. Another lawsuit we taxpayers have to put up.

Its crazy how many times ive heard, "All you had to do was give us your name" in situations where the person wasn't obligated to do so. They never fucking learn.

A big part of the problem are the people who call police for foolishness like this.

Top 5 things cops are afraid of:
1.) Waterguns
2.) Shadows
3.) Acorns
4.) Chalk
5.) their biggest fear of all - informed citizens.

Did I miss something? Where's the "informed sergeant defends citizen"? I saw an un-lawful arrest, and an un-lawful detainment... No superiors defending a citizen
Oh, I see now.. He "warns him"... That's not a defense of the citizen, it's an attempted defense against a lawsuit. He was the "SUPERIOR OFFICER", he should have commanded him to release him. Just trying to protect his own, not the people.

The cop posing as a supervisor needs to be fired
He lied and set a bad example for trainees.

It's crazy how our ignorance of the law is not an excuse but their ignorance of the law is "qualified immunity".

Retired of 25 years, I’d been embarrassed to appear in court over sidewalk chalk on a sidewalk, You’d have to arrest half the kids in town! What a waste of time & tax dollars.

They get an "F". He was being stalked to find some lie and excuse to illegally stop and illegally detain him.

Funny citizens don’t get a pass if they don’t know something is illegal, but cops do get a pass for claiming that. Even though their job should require them to know the law. Unbelievably idiotic.

I have always been told that “ignorance of the law is no excuse.” Why do officers get quality immunity when they are supposed to be educated in the law?

Dude got arrested for a child's activity. What a joke

Sgt: _Better be careful, if we arrest him for a non-arrestable offense, that can open on us up for litigation_ (or whatever)

Arresting Officer: *mmmk*

Like, this stuff doesn't even bother cops. They know they aren't going to get in trouble for any of this. They might be a paid day off, something on their internal record but absolutely nothing stops them from just arresting people, finding out they were wrong, get sued, rinse and repeat.

Start by:
- Ending qualified immunity
- Unlawful arrest = Settlement money comes out of police pension funds.

If literally one of those happened, we'd have a better system.
