The question is basically you need to give atleast one kg more gold that the previous day and keep doing this for 7 days at the end of 7 days you need to give away the whole, now your work is make minimum pieces of gold So, the answer is 1, 2, 4 kgs
Day1:- you give 1kgs
Day2:take 1kg give 2 kgs(one kg more than previous day)
Day3:give 1kg i.e 2+1 kg total 3 (one kg more than 2 kgs of previous day)
Day4:give 4 kgs take back 1&2 kgs(one kg bigger than 3kgs of previous day)
Day5: give one kgs i.e total 5 kgs (one kg bigger than previous day 4 kgs)
Day6: take 1kg and give 2 kg(they already have 4kgs so 4+2 i.e 6 kgs which is bigger than previous day 5 kgs)
Finally on day 7 you give the remaining 1 kgs and voila!! 7 kgs handed over

If you have option to +&- go with 2^n.like 1, 2, 4, 8...
If it is based on Balanced scale then 3^n like 1, 3, 9, 27....
