After taking my box i can shake my box
Whether the box is producing sound during shaking then the gold likely to be present in my box else my friend box .

it's probability question.
when he picked one box out of the three boxes, the probability of having gold in it is 1/3. and probability of having gold in one of the two left out boxes is 2/3.
and
after removing one empty box out of those two, the final left out box alone has the probability of having gold as 2/3, which is higher so i will try exchanging if offered.

This puzzel is never to get the desired result but rather increase your chances fof the desired result. If you choose your own you have 1/3 rd chance as you chose from the 3 originally given boxes. But after your friend elimates the empty box and you choose your friends box then the chances are 2/3 rd. You might end up having nothing but your chances increase to get the desired result.

after my choice,
my box has 1/3 probability

and my friend will have
1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3 probability
