Anything you say in a southern accent is the correct exhaust option.

I love the h pipe sound on mine. Love the deeper sound. Factory mufflers and resonator delete.

I went with Flowmaster American Thunder axle back and the scavenger x-pipe. Purchased separately plus the axle backs were on sale. Saved me about $400 total. The hangers were not positioned correctly and created a lot of headaches trying to line everything up. While it's on the car the left tip sets lower than the right. I had to use a pry bar to pull the pipe over far enough to fit into the hanger. When the weather warms up it's coming off and will probably go with Magnaflow which was my first choice in the planning stage. 2017 GT.

For decades back in the old days everyone automatically thought that dual exhaust made more power on a V8/V6. When people actually began experimenting they learned that your basic single exhaust Y pipe worked best because there's a scavenging effect from one cylinder bank to the other. You just needed a large I.D. to allow the exhaust to escape with minimal restriction. Since dual exhaust was so popular they came up with H pipes to take advantage of the scavenging. They quickly realized that an X flowed better than an H and the X pipe was born. So, X & Y are pretty much the same. H is good for your pickup. Incidentally, a 3" single exhaust was one of the tricks cop cars used to use catch up to you from a dead stop when you were a teenanger doing 110 on the freeway.

Went with the H pipe on my truck. Noticeable more ooomph on bottom end. Straigt or true dual was actually slower.

Standard C6(2007) I have with LS2 I put Vararam Snake Charmer CAI, Long Tube headers from Hooker and complete Magnaflow performance series straight pipe running to the magnaflow quad tips and it sounds good through power band and nice cackle on deceleration. My C6 ZO6(2012 3ZR)I ran the Same Vararam CAI for the LS7 and left the factory exhaust with the dumps that can open and it also sounds pretty wicked. All a matter of preference. Their is no wrong answer if you, the owner is happy. I’ve always loved that distinct 5.0 sound on Flowmasters since high school days. A lot of great cars are being produced currently from all the “Big Three”.

Great vid. I'm currently running pypes x with cat delete, deleted resonators, and thrush welded mufflers. It has a really unique sound with no drone at all. I plan on getting the roush axle backs in the near future and having blankenship's tune it.

A general idea of cost: back in 2008 I had a 1982 Trans am that I dropped a 350 into with shorty hooker headers. I found an awesome guy at meinike who set me up with a custom duel exhaust. I bought glass packed mufflers and exhaust tips. Including the cost of those parts, the pipes, and labor it was about $800.

Did a pypes h pipe and sap mufflers for my 05 gto. Deeper, not too loud, not quiet either

Couple comments talking about a single exhaust being more than enough for 500 hp or so... show me the money. I'm nearly five decades deep into the car hobby and I've never seen an engine get good power from a single exhaust. Engineers put dual exhaust on performance cars, super cars, and all-out race cars for a reason.

I prefer the sound of a V8 with pipes that don't cross at all. Just two seperate straight pipes right out of the headers.

H pipe maling more old muscle sound. It also depends in which motor. On LS motor X pipe sounds racy but H pipe like old muscle car sound

how about a slightly wider straight pipe? not that you couldnt make every version slightly wider. i like the straight pipe sound best, i cant stand the x pipe sound, sounds like barfing to me

Just too inform you the h pipe the connecting pipe that’s in the center is mostly blocked off with a 5/8th hole drilled though too allow some restrictions but allow pass through as well. Summit racing has a video showing what’s an h pipe looks like when you open it up

A straight glass one with some steel wool stuffed inside is the best.
