Soy Myths vs. Reality: What You Didn't Know About Tofu! 👀🥗
Показать описание
There are so many myths out there perpetuated by the meat industry that tofu gets a bad reputation.
Fibs include: male breasts to grow, hormone dysfunction, that it's massively processed, that millions of insects and small critters died for tofu to be harvested, that vegans are the main cause of deforestation because of soy…so wild to me!
Soybeans (used to make tofu) are one of the healthiest foods you can eat.
- Soy is a complete protein (note that all plants contain all amino acids so if you eat enough and in variety you get all the nutrients you need in this life!)
- It can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, coronary heart disease, and some cancers, as well as improve bone health.
- It comes from a BEAN! You've probably had a type of soy called edamame at a sushi restaurant.
- 80-85% of the world's soy is grown to feed farmed animals, with 6-7% grown directly for human consumption. Overall, soybeans have a much lighter environmental footprint than animal products.
I am eating a delicious easy recipe for crispy tofu nuggets I recently posted, but there are so many excellent pre-seasoned tofu options out there, check out @hodofoods for some delicious and versatile tofu offerings!
I hope you will try them!
