I have a form of this disorder, it’s more on a spectrum than a singular thing. I can recognize people somewhat by identifying their hair, skin color, general clothing style, voice, and common phrases or words in their speech. Once my brain has identified these aspects I will then be able to recognize the face im looking at. But the moment I look away from anyone including myself I just cannot remember what anyone looks like. I have to actively be staring at a face to know what a person looks like. In my mind if I think of a person I can remember everything about them except the face, it looks like everyone has a blurred face filter applied in my memory. Sometimes it’s kind of sad because i’ll try to remember my mom’s face or my dad’s face but I just can’t form the image in my mind.

Another funny thing is, sometimes i’ll forget I was wearing make up and smear it by rubbing my eyes accidentally because I can’t remember what my face looks like to remind myself I put make up on.

I’m glad that my condition isn’t that bad to where faces are moving, distorted, or blurred in the real world. That would be so much more annoying.

I used to mix up two old women at the grocery store all the time because they would wear the same outfit, have same hair, same everything except the face. They would always be confused when I asked for their name each time. 🤣

If I looked at someone and their mouth and eyes were moving like that I would've been a hermit for the rest of my life

I didn't realize I had face blindness until I started working at a school. I was homeschooled at a very young age due to me having social problems at school. So I spent the majority of the time at home and I rarely recognized my parents friends. I though it was because I wasn't their friend and I don't see them often, that's why I couldn't recognize them. Then I started working at a school. After almost three years, at a high school full of people, I recognize about 8 people. Good thing I'm just the custodian so it doesn't matter. Sometimes people wave at me as if I'm supposed to know them and I just wave back to be nice.

Thanks. I’ve struggled with it my whole life, so it brings comfort to have it talked about.

I HAVE THIS.
I cant recognise my own face, nor anyone else's faces.
I can recognize haircuts, voices, clothing and body types.

A while ago a random person came up to me, and I had no idea they were my friend until they asked me why I was staring at them.

They had gotten a haircut, and was wearing different clothes to usual, so I had absolutely no idea who they were.

Love how the first person with a face shows they can make faces that look normal, yet every other face is designed to be cursed

Not recognizing my own face in the mirror wouldn't be so bad, lookin like a gamer medusa.

Holy crap I was actually diagnosed with this exact condition at 28 after it major strokes insignificant TBI from complications of a minor medical procedure. It is the most difficult thing to explain to people. Even I don’t understand it. To wake up and have your family showing pictures of yourself from a Christmas and not being able to Recognize who is in the picture. worst part is looking I had somebody face and knowing that I’m unable to see what I seen before. knowing I can never look at a pretty Woman and truly see it

My doctors thought I had this when I was younger cause of my slowly worsening vision. Because my vision is so bad, I am not able to see any details of a persons face because they are too far away, if something isn’t like 2 inches in front of me I can’t see it and even then I have trouble seeing it sometimes. Luckily I got glasses when I was in 1st grade and I’ve had them since and other than needing new prescriptions very frequently, I have had no issues since.

I have this! I can't recognize my brother when he doesn't wear his eye makeup and I can't recognize myself in a mirror. I know my family and my friends by walking style, body type, clothing style, hair style, glasses, voice, that sort of thing. And not recognizing yourself isn't as fun as people think it is, it can cause some serious dissociation issues.

My teacher has it. She has known me for two school years and she still calls me by my brothers name even tho he graduated a few years ago

OK reading this comment section is kind of pissing me off people saying they suffer from this. Unless you suffered a major traumatic brain injury from a stroke or other major medical event you do not have this condition you just have a poor memory!!! For someone that now sucker suit after a TBI it’s F#*£up people complaining they have it. You’re claiming to be disabled when you’re not.
