forgot to mention the Honda Rebel is really well built. Its gone almost unchaged since the 90's and will last forever. However being a 250 means it will not have good power. it will handle city just fine but interstate travel is not something I would do. you should also check out the Yamaha V Star 250 that is a V-twin and looks great.

My suggestion is if this will be your first bike don't pay too much to looks, go with the best deal or the bike that you feel the most comfortable on. right not\w its all about learning. Put in seat time and then in 6 months to a year start looking for the bike you really want.

Crf for darn sure! Less on insurance, looks good, offroad usable and probably better mpg

the cbr500 IC is all digital and has this little tach bar instead of a traditional analog tach like most sport bikes have.

I think the CRF250L gives you the best bang for the buck.

I will most likely be buying a ninja 500 to learn on in march or April. its a old bike that went virtually unchanged from 91-09. the bike is flat out ugly however its a great bike that I can learn on and sell it 6 months later for the same price i paid for it. Then I can buy the bike I actually want which is the Yamaha FZ6. Think about the the bike you actually want and what is the best path to it. For me its a old bike to learn on and them move up to the bike I want.

you can buy a honda rebel for next to nothing. I think new they are barely 4 grand and you can find them used in great condition with almost no miles for under 2 grand so to make it your own isn't that much since you can get the bike for so cheap. With that said would it be your first bike? If it is don't worry about modding it at all because most likely you will learn on it then sell it to upgrade to a bigger bike you like.

what ever bike you get go used because it already be broke in and you will save a ton of money because wont have to pay full price plus all the taxes that you get hit with for new bikes. i assume this is your first bike so go used you can find them for half the price of a new one. Plus when you want to resell it you can almost if not all your money back.
