In today's lesson we are talking about why it is important to learn music theory as a beginner piano student. Understanding how theory works and how to apply it can give you a much better idea on how the piano pieces you are playing are constructed. You can actually learn your music more easily since you will be able to quickly identify the chords, scales, arpeggios, key changes, sequences, and other important elements. Watch the lesson to learn even more on why you need music theory as a beginner piano student.

I'll add this playlist to my bucket list and get to it after I get down some real world practice. I have chugging a lot of theory in general for the past few months, time to put them into practice before chugging some more.
I can't thank you enough for all your super informative videos!

Just started your courses, been playing guitar for years but picking up a midi controller, i figured i might as well learn how to play it and the theory properly this time around. Your lessons are great and i've learned alot so far even though i'm just in the beginning course. Can't wait to learn more of that juicy theory, want to start composing and improvisation would be awesome once i get more comfortable playing :)

Well I don't know any theory but it is actually going pretty well and I did figure out some things on my own (I found out that songs mainly use a specific set of keys (In terms of buttons) and if it would use a key one higher or lower it would be unharmonic (Example: on a song that only uses white keys in a part hitting a black one would sound bad) that set of keys can also be changed
And the highest note of a chord is the strongest one (I once noticed that when I was trying to play sth. without chords and using the lower note wouldn't sound simmilar))
With that I have found out more in less than a year playing keyboard than in the time I've been in school (I think I had 3 years music... One teacher didn't teach a lot)
But all in one I can't even really read sheets
But I planned on learning a bit theory and learning to read sheets (There are some arrangements which aren't in synthesia)

And I will probably be watching some of your channel or try to... do you have any video on the most basic of the most basic theory
As I tried to watch the circle of fitht thing and didn't understand anything

And I also wanted to buy a better Keyboard and I have found a pretty decent one (Yamaha P-115B (I am still searching)) but the weighted keys aren't as hard as on a real piano and some people said the keys make a sound themselves
And I'd like having a bit more SoundFonts
And the only thing that has bugged me on a real piano is the fact that the keys land on a string which doesn't make the note hit sth. harder but just bufferes it out for which I'd like to know if that's also like that on a Keyboard

Can you make a video tutorial of some medium difficulty sings because I have mastered all the easy songs, then when I try to find some medium difficulty songs I can't find any then I try to find a hard song and I can't grasp it because I skipped a whole step. Thank you for making YouTube videos you helped me a lot

Tim, hi I did change my user name.. If I check in when your live and I'm not commenting it's because I'm driving.. If you can, how about a few bars of "Take it Easy" by Jackson Browne when you see my name pop up and you can fit it in... LOL
