Hammond explained it best
FWD: The car understeers, you fly into a tree and die
RWD: The car oversteers, you fly into a tree and die
RWD is better because you don't see the tree that kills you

You might ask:
"Why aren't all cars AWD then?"

If I remember correctly, money, fuel, weight and maintenance

Dirt rally made me fall in love with awd

I love AWD on the touge, you can flick them into corners and still use the throttle technique to pull yourself out of oversteer (I find this works the best in low powered AWD cars)
Sometimes if you get too much angle, you instinctively countersteer. That causes you to suddenly gain traction in the front tires and send yourself in the opposite direction 😂
They’re fun but can be slightly sketchy

A proper LSD on a FWD will do things you wouldn’t believe possible.

kinda started loving fwd, throwing the car at top speed through corners, oversteering, then full throttle when u decide its enough

It’s a weird feeling taking a corner in an AWD corner, realizing you’re about to oversteer, and then putting a little more throttle to really pull yourself into the corner. Shocked me the first time I did autocross.

The one that complements your driving abilities/style the best. That's the fastest one. 😉

Love my AWD, since I live in snow 7 months out of the year it's basically a necessity. The amount of control you get is unmatched. To those who say you can't have fun in AWD like you can in RWD are just wrong, you can intentionally break traction in AWD it just takes a better understanding of how it all behaves.

Incorrect to say that FWD can perform tighter turns because the car is being pulled. The “pulling” actually limits the peak lateral acceleration the front tires can perform. Hence they understeer.

when you loose control while driving in a:
RWD: turn the car back to the road and lower speed
FWD: turn the car back to the road and increase speed
AWD: *pray*

I drive an Elantra N with a six speed, and I personally like the way fwd pulls you through corners. It makes the car feel very planted and like it’s on rails

Driving Lancer evos are my absolute favorite in any game. The thing grips through anything and accelerates wonderfully. Seems like such a fun track car to have based off how it is in a lot of sim games

I like all 3. Each one has benefits depending on how you use them.

My biggest reason for switching from a FWD car to an AWD was that stability. It's really scary taking a turn so fast in AWD. But if traction control doesn't intervene, it just skates perfectly through the corner.

Engine configuration types and their abbreviations:

Mid-engine RWD: MR
Rear-engine RWD: RR
Front-engine RWD: FR
Front-engine FWD: FF
Mid-engine FWD (extremely rare): MF
All-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drive are just AWD and 4WD
