And im back to test the speed difference between AWD, RWD, and FWD. This time we are using three different cars (instead of one car in 3 different drivetrains). This time, the cars are also slightly upgraded! Thank you all sooooo much for taking the time to watch! It means the world to me if you like and subscribe and say "HI" in the comment section! :)

Way better than your original!!! I like youtubers who can notice there flaws... I personally like AWD just becuase you can do power slides/drifts, more traction off the line, than a little bit understeery (just becuase i know how to deal with under steer better to make it faster)

It looked like FWD was winning for the first half, and then when it got to the downhill part of Laguna Seca, the RWD and AWD clawed back some of the time.

FWD is all about maintaining corner speed. Well done.

Awesome video! It can really help people picture the differences between drivetrains, and what their specialties are around a track

you know that you can tune an AWD car so that more power is transferred to the front or rear wheels such as: 80% of engine power to the rear and 20% to the front. Companies like Subaru do this for their rally cars so that it is more like a RWD however it still has the stability and grip of an AWD car. I think the new Ford Focus RS 2017 uses this as well.

Glad to hear he points out strengths/weaknesses of each instead of saying "this one" is best.

much better test. all those cars are engineering miracles in my opinion. also i see you learned to control the instability of the FWD, top effort! also great work with the video the editing and such.

Nice vid man. Gotta be RWD all the way for me, drag racing ftw!

Only race in SRW and PCARS myself but virtual racing is in a great era now. The feel and details are great. It is amazing the way different cars do drive differently show up in these games. Lotsa fun to race folks you know in various tracks with different cars and not have the expense or risk as real life. Past cars I owned in real life were a '64 Chevelle stationwagon, a '68 Camaro, a few vw beetles, a '83 Honda civic, a Dodge Colt Vista van and 2 Subaru outback sports. I must say everything has an entirely different feel and requires totally different driving. Even at a medium fast public road speeds. G27 was money well spent. It keeps my racing off the street.

Fwd was the fastest in the corners. It was lighter and grippier than the rwd and the awd, the only reason it became 3rd is the lack of power compared to 2 icons.

Hey, really like your versus series, really nice.

I do have an explanation to why they're so close though. From my experience, the index raises when converting from FWD to RWD and RWD to AWD. Converting a RWD car to AWD almost always raises the index with around 50 points. When racing cars at the top of their class, theyre all matched, no matter if they are RWD, FWD or AWD. Turn10 has compensated for the cars being different drivetrains. So what Id do is either 1. Find a car thats sold in real life with AWD, RWD and FWD (which is kinda hard). or 2. Find a balanced 50/50 car, designed to give traction and balance to all four wheels, like a AWD car. Then set the starting index with FWD being say.. 550, then convert it to RWD which would make the index go above 550 and then the same with AWD.

Doing it this way, the RWD is probably going to win seconds in front of FWD and AWD because of its oversteering capabilities in corners, acceleration and speed.

Lovely video... Great efforts to explain drive train technique... Liked your last statement so much... All it takes a good driver and good tuning to go fast :)

Merry Christmas mate! Thanks for the upload! Have a safe and restful Christmas Day.

It's pretty interesting how it's all down to the driver's skill, as the traction system only does so much other then changing the behavior of the car.

The best are <MR> mid engine, rear wheel drive, huh?

Wow lol, thought it was not going to be accurate because of using different cars but it shows each drivetrains' flaws. Nice.

Loved that you used a set of fair rules. The Built or Bought series is starting to get better where its more evenly matched but still feel like the bought car usually wins. Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to use drag tires and only be allowed to use sport tires on the built car since none of the bought cars you have used have drag tires for the race which puts them at a disadvantage grip/traction wise. Also you should lap the built and bought cars to see the handling difference. Other than that, great work so far. Really loving the channel.

When you know how to drive FWD, you won't care much about RWD or AWD, but all three are fun, but in different perspectives.

Dide, you have to use the same car, otherwise it just doesn't make sense. You have to isolate the variable, in this case the drive train (awd, rwd, fwd), and keep all other variables constant. Otherwise it just isn't accurate.

now imagine how much better RWD would have been with an extra 91 lb-ft and 10 hp that FWD had, as well as shaving another 400 lbs to the WRX (AWD) as well as another 15 hp and 10 lb-ft
But i still loved it! great vid to watch as there arnt any others with anywhere near as much effort.
