When I joined a MNC 16 years ago, I got a CTC of 3.25L . I recruited a fresher last month at 3.5L !!!
Asked the same question to HR... Got the same answer like this 😢

Simple answer is "Demand vs Supply". There are so many engineers graduating in India every year and even after many leaving country and getting 30 lpa, still there are many left and willing to work for 3 lpa.. Just see the crowds at freshers walk-in drives. And for the kind of work they do in tcs/infy, they dont really need IIT, NIT graduates. Just a regular engineer with basic CSE knowledge is fine...

Big thanks to host for asking this!!.Over the yrs freshers have upskilled themselves with evolving tech, but the payout remained same for almost 10 yrs now. Emp at p7+ grade have got their salaries doubled but freshers have to be at the bottom of this pyramid. Plus every emp in IT company has to go through the harassments of giving interviews every time they have to join a new project. It is like if you dont have a project in IT company you are a liability on them. The problem is first an emp has to give 5 rounds of interview to join a IT company and then an equal no. of rounds to get onboarded on a client project. It is the worst kinda job to do in this world. Emp are always in anxiety that for how long they'll be on project and once project is low on budget, then a new project hunt will begin. This needs to change!!

The host is such a gem. Totally irrelevant answer.

Let me explain the situation.
1. You are an experienced resource, put down papers. If the client needs you so badly, the company still hesitates to give you the hike but then they will pay 20-30% and put them in variable and they give it in the annual appraisal cycle.
Again, it's useless .

2. If you are a freshman offshore, do a Digital course that spoils the existing talent and gives you another 10% hike

3. Do what management says examples like innovista, Management follow ups, certification drive. You get a promotion..

See the difference in the salary parity.

Managers - 16-20years experience - salary range : min 30Lakhs.

Senior resources staying with the company for over a decade. Salary is a mere 10-12L.

I dont buy the fact that salary in TCS can be doubled 😝😝 considering band system anf favoritism .. its impossible.
They give the hike in such a way that if in this year you can buy a vadapav on daily basis then next year you can just add some mint chutney on that vadapaav !!! Its literally pathetic.. its personal experience plus family exp !

That is the reason my friend left TCS with 70, 000 indian rupees cash salary after tax and went to Canada doing truck driving with 12000- 15000 dollar per month on his flat bed truck.

In short, all engineers from regular colleges are considered as talentelss by default and given a salary which didnt change over 15 years. If you are talented, you would have been to reputed colleges which atracts salary matching inflation. The company offers a chance to upgrade skills through digital transformation program. If you are a talented person from a regular college, you can use this and double your salary by proving yourself. People who work for TCS but still getting basic pay are considered talentless i guess(based on his explaination).
