I was on this boss for an hour last night, gave up and turned it off. My 8 year old son beat him on his 2nd try today!! We are playing through together and I was so proud of him!!

I died many times, took me many different evenings of trying. I did not use a spirit friend, or poison or rot. I did use fire protection spell, lightening talisman, stamina talisman. I used a Halbert, ash of war long thrust. I had to learn how to dodge and dodge and dodge some more. But I finally beat him and was so happy. I'm not saying my way was better, it was just how I learned. I think it took me over 20 tries probably twice that! But I beat him handily with two health drinks left! And then I find out I don't have enough great runes to enter the castle 😆
Such a brutal game. Good fighting fellow tarnished!

Edit: and I didn't use Torrent, just not good at fighting on him or her

The bosses in this game have been really bs, they just keep on spamming and they give you no chance to punish, its so bs

Another good tip worth mentioning: you can use the flail on horseback spamming heavy attack dealing huge damage to the tree sentinel on top of this strategy, he’ll be dead in no time (I was using a +1 flail lol)

Alright. I did it w/o this guide but figured people would have trouble. I have a lvl 40 with 30 faith and a +6 black knife. I cheesed him btw, I couldnt beat him at only lvl 40 (black knife assassin. YouTube has a guide to cheese him and somber stones 1 through 6 are pretty easy to get. If you cant do volcano manor jump, do the glitch at farum azula). I summoned the dogs you start with and spammed the black knife skill on him 7 or 8 times before my dogs died. From there I rolled INTO his attacks on horseback and dodged the lightning and fireballs by keeping just in distance of my skill. Hope this helps, took me 3 tries (first ever DS game, first 6 hours, did this before Margit)

I was about to give up because of this boss. Then i found another cheese way. Sneak up from behind get to heavy hits, then call the horse and escape as fast as you csn . He will return to the gate. Repeat this like 10 times

If you are struggling with this horsemen from the deepest pit of Tartarus than I have known of a cheese; if you have any mist attacks like poison mist you can sneak up behind him and as long as you have enough flask (for me 5+7) he will eventually die.
However if this cheese gets patched, than forgive me.

This boss sucks to fight. Only thing that worked for me was to get him down halfway with block and slash + jellyfish. Then I'd get on horse and run away until his name disappears. Then run back and you can get a free shot with the bow and arrow sorcery spell. Then run away and double jump with the horse repeatedly to avoid getting zapped with the lightning. I think this only worked because I picked off those giants with the bows since they'll blast you when you run away from the boss.

The best and easy way to defeat him is to sneak behined him and use poison mist incantation and he will be gone under 10 minutes i guess but, in this way u dont have to fight him just use the incantation one after another dont spam it or it will not work

This game is really very good. After a very long time, I actually enjoyed playing a game. Thus was my first dark souls game. I am glad that I beat the game without using any cheese. Although it took me 190 hours to beat it. First, 30 hours were like tutorials for me. 😂. That boss really gave me lots of trouble. Lots of trouble. His lightening attack in the second phase is very difficult to avoid. It can hit you even if you are far away from him. The biggest problem with the game is that, it reused many bosses. I mean they reused bosses like small enemies.
