We drive the new 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and see how this 4WD wagon compares.

How much better is the new 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport? With a range of design updates, this 4x4 wagon is a better looking rig now. Heavily based on the Mitsubishi Triton ute, the Pajero Sport shares that vehicle’s 2.4-litre turbo Diesel engine, but it uses its own eight-speed auto.

Is the Pajero Sport a better buy than the Toyota Fortuner or Ford Everest? What about the Isuzu MU-X?

In today’s video, Tom takes a detailed look at the high-spec Pajero Sport Exceed 4x4 with genuine accessories to give you detailed insights about this vehicle.

I like that you focussed on value based on the price. Many reviews tend to ignore or place too little weight on price when comparing.

I've only climbed into the Sport twice over the years, and banged my head both times. Sticking with my old Pajero for now.

I absolutely love this Pajero sport, despite of its love it or hate it styling.
But it's the little packaging details that could be better, such as the DIY centre seat belt of second seat, the location of top tether points(roof mounted), which make the visibility and accessibility of third row seats difficult, and I wish this Beast was 4-7 cms wider.
But for the price it is, and the tech it packs, esp the smooth 8 speed auto and that super select AWD, it's definitely the best in class where it matters most.

Great review, actually about to order the new GSR, for me i like this car over the others in the segment, the only things for me is ill be changing the suspension to remove the 'floatiness' and putting in an engine tune. Beyond that, really like these.

Again, , , top review. Great to know you check all details before putting your face to the car. Tom, many of us don't want to go off road or do the miles ( short trips only ) for a diesel. How about Mid - Large SUV's with 4WD in petrol !

These look really rugged with the Piak non loop or loop winching bars added to them since it doesn't add the chubby cheek sides that the OEM bull bar has.

Another great review Tom. I’ve Finally decided on the Pajero Sport after waiting for the new MU-X and just can’t justify it. One question for you mate. I’ve noticed a thud at low speed, when your off the throttle then back on. It’s like the driveshaft responding. Is this normal?

I have a little constructive criticism.

When reviewing a 4x4 with paddle shifters it's worth mentioning how the paddle shifters interact with offroad environments.

Those paddle shifters are straight out of the EVO X and make driving on sand so much easier.

Nice review 👍
No doubt you produced this before the revisions to the equipment levels, so that must be annoying... GLS is now downgraded to cloth seats and manual adjustment, with a new Delux pack option to get the leather appointed seats and electric adjustment on the front ones back, plus added 360 degree cameras from the Exceed. RRP hikes to of course. We take delivery of one next week after waiting since September!

Another top review, Tom.
Love the site.
Any chance of an update on the Kodiaq non RS MY21. It’s changed a fair bit and your old video seems to have dropped off the net.

Title is misleading, this review is not based on the 2021 range. There has been major changes to what is offered in the glx and gls spec, exceed remains the same. Check the Mitsubishi website, all has been updated now. Also slight changes in pricing. Cheers

Wife has the ASX Exceed 2012 model - this seems a good upgrade as I always found the ASX lacking in power and steering is not to my liking. Will check this out.

How about the Child Seat Restraint Anchor are they on the back of the second row in the 5 seat I believe (for the 7 seat versions) they are situated in the rear cargo area where the top of the boot door is.... can I suggest you mention Child Seat Restraint Anchor points when you do these reviews (if they are not situated at the back of the second row), as their position makes a difference to people with if they are above the rear door, this then means the Child Seat Restraint Belts would take up a lot of the boot that does not suit, if I want to have a Cargo Barrier, Camping Fridge and Camping Gear in my rear cargo area. Cheers :)

Ok in SA the exceed do not have adaptive cruise control or heated seats, but do have the sunroof and electric boot though.
