Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GLS 4x4 2022 Review

If there’s one thing Mitsubishi is good at, it’s designing boring interiors. But if you’re not too fussed about the cabin, you’ll find the aging Mitsubishi Pajero Sport ticks a lot of boxes.

This mid-spec Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GLS has seven seats and all the mod-cons including adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, seven airbags, Apple CarPlay and more.

Chuck in a very capable Super-Select 4x4 system with a locking centre and rear diffs and three 4x4 modes, and this Mitsubishi turns from dad’s taxi into mum’s off-road warrior.

But the Triton ute-based large SUV is getting old – so is it still good value alongside newer competitors? Watch the video to find out.

It's a Mitsubishi. They have a great philosophy of making cars that just last with everything you need and nothing you don't. Great value, incredible warranty and it does what it says on the tin very well - 4WD station wagon. That engine/SuperSelect-II transmission has been around for years, battle-hardended and if maintained per spec will last a lifetime.

I have a GLS and have taken it off-road, carried 7 full size adults and honestly cannot fault its versatility. A great all round car. Yes lacking some tech that these newer cars offer, but for the price point this car can handle everything thrown at it.

This review starts off very negative until the reviewer finally gets it. Yes, this is not a soft, quiet, car-like SUV.... it is a tough, rugged, reliable and very capable 4WD family truck.

I tried both PS, MU-X and new Everest recently, and I picked PS finally. MU-X is bigger and more cabin space, but the engine is noisy and shaky, just like driving a bus or .... you know ISUZU light truck.
New Everest is better in most aspect, but the 3rd row space is too small. I am 177cm, I can fit in PS's 3rd row easily with a decent knee room, but I cannot fit into Everest's 3rd row even I push 2nd row forward.

No it didn't start out as an Outlander but actually as a Challenger, Triton based of course, I had a 3.2 LWB NT Pajero for years, bloody good vehicle, actually the best I ever owned and miss it.

“Mitsubishi’s reputation for uninspiring cabin design”……this reviews off to a great start👍👍

The pajero sport has always been (markerted in Australia as the Challanger) it was never an Outlander as reported .The transfer case has a center diff that can be in high range unlocked on high friction surfaces (from the Gen 2 Pajero) and the rear axle is not independant as reported (agian donanted from the Gen 2 Pajero). would be great if the reporter had half a clue what he was reporting about!

I own this model in the UK, like all of the moanstream media sites they approach these SUVs from "car review" i.e. the wrong perspective, the Pajero Sport is a 4x4 SUV not a car based AWD Like with all things in life, there is a trade off, if you want a car that you can occasionally park on the then the Pajero Sport isn't probably for you. (PS I love mine)

although this SUV has an old ladder frame platform the sad thing is that it has a very advanced 4wd system, in fact I dont think it has a competitor that is as good... unless you go to a Land Rover or something prestige... that in itself makes a good argument for this over competing 4wds which have a much more primitive read less safe 4wd system...

This car is one of the most popular SUV here in Indonesia along with Toyota Fortuner and Honda CRV

the "Pajero sport" is a triton ute based station waggon. Its predecessor was the "Challenger" based on a previous generation of triton. The outlander is a car like SUV not the same thing, and you show pictures of previous model outlanders. Of course the manufacturers switch model names and specs in different markets of the world, so who knows?

Be aware that the ebreak and screen will fail right after 2 years of ownership, they cost around $1000 each to replace

This vehicle concept began as a Challenger not an Outlander which was the smaller crossover Mitsubishi and not at all capable off-road - editor needs to check their facts - I’d happily own a Pajero Sport or Toyota Fortuner instead of a conventional Pajero or Toyota Prado because the annoying swing out rear door is a deal breaker for me as it provides no overhead protection from the elements and impedes into space of car parked behind you

You've mentioned 3 link independent rear suspension. Please review this. The Pajero Sport has a rear live axle

Please Mitsubishi bring back the 3.2 Pajero 😢😢

When did it go to an independent rear end?
