Koba being an hyper violent bonobo is a real testimony to how much suffering he must have been through before meeting Cesar.

Koba in the movies, pointing out scar after scar, saying "human, human, human" was really heartbreaking. :(

The fact that bonobos are generally passive goes to show just how badly those scientists treated Koba prior top the movie for it to make him as aggressive as he was.

So refreshing to hear an articulate, intelligent and deeply knowledgeable scientist offering her insights, I could listen to Dr. Stoinski for hours, and remain so grateful for her efforts as a conservationist.

I love the fact that the dominant male gorilla takes in orphans. I didn't know that. Reminds me of a video I saw on YouTube of the big, dominant gorilla in a wild troop enjoying some quiet time cuddling with a couple of very small juvenile gorillas. It's so freaking adorable.

The way she said that orangutans rely a lot on fruits does break my heart, knowing that the deforestations are still massively happening in Indonesia, esprecially in Kalimantan/Borneo.

Excellently informative! My one quibble is that Koba wasn't meant to be a typical bonobo, but one who had been tortured so much and so often that he lost his essential nature--underlined by his demise when Caesar says, "Koba not ape."

I LOVE Maurice. His relationship with Nova makes that 3rd movie SO good.

Orangutan is solitary, peaceful, non aggressive, intelligent, and the most fury among great apes that looks like cape -- Dude, Orangutan fit perfectly into the old wizard/guru/Jedi archetype.

Fun fact: Orangutan is an abbreviation of "Orang Hutan" Which literally means, *people of the forest* in Indonesian.

Koba fits so nicely into the slot of "Beautiful Evil" his actions are totally understandable and his hatred is pure for justifiable reasons, so much so that he's not entirely wrong in his assumptions; with the third film basically proving his point. One of the best antagonists ever put to screen.

The tie-in novel "Rise of the Planet of the Apes: Firestorm" does a good job of showing how Koba's bonobo-like playfulness was crushed by the years of mistreatment he suffered.

I learned that Tarzan had it right when Kerchak had taken Tarzan in as his own. Wow thank you.

In the films, the human DNA in the retrovirus not only affected their intelligence, but also caused some small morphological changes. This explains why they were able to speak and walk upright more comfortably.

the fact koboa is a bonobo i think adds more to his character. it shows how much trauma he went through, to change a normally peaceful species into a murderous villain
