Didik The Baby Orangutan Has a BULLET removed from his body!

In 2016, a young orangutan named Didik was rescued by the BKDSA in critical condition. He was severely malnourished and traumatized after witnessing the tragic death of his mother. Upon arrival at YIARI’s center, their veterinary team discovered a bullet lodged in his shoulder!

After weeks of dedicated care from YIARI, Didik was strong enough to undergo surgery, and their veterinary team successfully removed the bullet. Didik's recovery highlights the importance of the work YIARI does, but it also shows the ongoing need for support.

We’ve raised 23% of the fundraising goal so far, and we still have a long way to go. It costs $5,714 a day to keep YIARI's essential conservation work going, and there’s still much to be done.

Orang-utans are my MOST favourite animal on this planet, to think this poor baby not only got shot but also saw his mum die just breaks my heart.
These poachers and farmers that do this to them are MURDERERS.
I hope with all my heart that Didik grows up to be a VERY strong boy, fathers MANY baby Orang-utans and lives a LONG and HAPPY life.

I can't imagine what this little guy has gone through. Watching their mothers killed, they first months of life are pure terror. Orangutans are some of the most beautiful of all of the primates. Chimpanzees babies are adorable, goofy, and fun, but they can be aggressive at times even the younger ones. Orangutans are a bit more docile. Not saying that they don't get nasty, they do, but they are usually less "aggressive" than Chimpanzees. Whatever the case NO ANIMALS should ever have to endure what these little guys have. Thankfully there are some decent people who care and love these beautiful animals. I can't look at an Orangutan without wanting to hug them. Especially this little one.

when did this happen? I remember another baby his name was Didik when he was found and saved, he was very small and very underweight!
