Thanks for this, Joe. Given the large number of people with insulin/sugar problems, please do more videos to help us. I think what you do is absolutely great - hope you get as much satisfaction from your work as we benefit from seeing and listening to you. Bless you!

Many thanks for sharing the health studies on butter and margarine. Personally, I have occasionally tried butter and coconut oil in my black coffee, though I normally drink my morning coffee without adders. Here are a few of my N=1 observations when I did add 1 Tblsp of butter and 1 Tblsp of organic coconut oil: (1) Induced higher level of ketosis ~ 0.833 to 1.11 mmol/L. Normally, it takes much longer to hit these markers with pure fasting and black coffee; (2) Subjective feeling of more energy, though perhaps a placebo effect; (3) natural chap stick with oily lips in the morning; and (4) Accelerated bowel movements (eek).  Tip: You can grab some ketone strips from your local pharmacy to test for ketosis.  Ketosis is awesome because you burn your body's storage (i.e., fat), rather than calorie surplus (i.e., food) for energy. Don't get this confused with commonly mistaken Ketoacidosis...

All this being said, I honestly feel it’s better to have my coffee black (with cinnamon) and enjoy butter later in the day on my sweat potatoes or steak, etc. By introducing calories so early in the morning, I feel it’s contrary to cutting out unnecessary foods that can be enjoyed later during feast periods.

Sure, coconut oil provides ample medium chain triglycerides(“MCTs”), and combined with butter, you can hack yourself
through the blood brain barrier for cognitive performance; however, I anecdotally perform equally well with or without butter and coconut oil in my coffee.  Furthermore, humans can get ripped with a healthy lifestyle and great exercise regime without drowning their coffee with butter and coconut oil (or MCT’s) for that matter. That is all; just finished my black coffee - without butter and/or coconut oil ;)

~ 2:30 : "Foods high in fiber include vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains."

In other words, the staples of a carb-based, low protein anti-inflammatory diet.

I appreciate the AT articles. However, I observe that they are consistent and clear within each article, yet can conflict with the emphasis made in other articles.

In this case, the first recommendation says "lower your carb intake" and #3 effectively says eat these carbs for the other advantage that comes with them.
